Our hostel is owned and operated by the family Nout, Jolanda and our boys Dex and Cas. The hostel is designed and built in styles both typical and unique to Mompiche. Our focus was on creating a nice & cozy atmosphere while utilizing construction methods with minimal environmental impact. We have 7 bamboo bungalows (5 privates & 2 shared dorms), a communal kitchen, a yoga/relax deck + hammock zone to hang and mingle with fellow travelers, an on-site restaurant/bar, plus fast and reliable fiber optic wifi. Just a three minute walk to the town center and beach, our little tropical oasis is a great place to spend a few weeks and meet travelers from all over the world.
We prefer a 3 week minimum stay but if you can only stay for 2 weeks, we will take your offer into consideration. Of course there is a 1-week trial period to make sure everyone is happy with the arrangement.
HEADS UP TO COUPLES OR FRIENDS TRAVELING TOGETHER: Our volunteers may work separate schedules.
Please send us a message if you have any questions. Be sure to include in your message your estimated date of arrival to Mompiche, how long you would like to stay with us, and what you believe you have to offer that makes you stand out from the rest (your strengths, previous work experience, any specific trades you are good at, etc.). Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!!
Cheers ~ Nout, Jolanda, Dex y Cas

Take a spanish course and practice with the natives, take a surf lesson in one of the best spots for beginners or advanced surfers, learn about medicinal plants growing in the bordering rain forest, sample esmeraldeño cuisine.
Typical volunteer tasks include babysitting, basic maintenance like yard work, painting/varnishing, cleaning, building, etc. and reception work. For reception duties, the volunteer should speak and comprehend a basic level of both Spanish and English and have an outgoing personality.

Mompiche is a quaint little fishing village in northern Ecuador. The village rests on a 40-mile crescent-moon bay. The world-class waves attract surfers from all over the globe and is a fantastic place to learn how to surf (classes and board rentals available year-round) since there are waves for all ability levels. Also out in that great big blue space, you can go on whale-watching excursions (September-November) or sit on the beach at night and be mesmerized by the fluorescent-green color of the plankton lighting up the waves, depending, of course, on the month you are here. There is a gorgeous, small island 10 minutes away called “Isla Portete”. It is not much more than a few homes, miles of pristine coastline, coconut palms and peace. From Mompiche, you can also walk to a stunning and picturesque black-sand beach only minutes away. Mompiche offers horseback riding along the beach. Also, just behind us is a protected rain forest packed full of incredible flora and fauna. There are forest tours available where you can see monkeys, toucans, parrots, waterfalls and much more. In short, Mompiche is a beautiful place to disconnect from everything and reconnect with nature.
