    Description

Our dream of living in nature and caring for the land we love and live on is finally coming true. But of course, we can't and don't want to do this alone. We'd love you to join us, Juan and Denis, for a week or more on this beautiful, riverside property on the NSW Mid North Coast we call home. Denis is a yoga teacher, community death care advocate and soon to be counsellor who thrives on living life consciously and filled with purpose. Juan is an artist and gallery installer who is currently channelling his creative energy into creating gardens and renovating our work and living spaces.

In the coming months and years we hope to create a community who feels connected to this land and helps us maintain its health, as it will support ours.
This involves a lot of weeding, planting, mulching and watering. We will also add to existing veggie beds and extend the orchard, in order to grow more of our own food. At some point, there could also be chickens added into the mix.

We're located 45 minutes West of Port Macquarie, in a rural setting without immediate access to shops or entertainment. You'll enjoy staying with us if you love swims in the river, watching native wildlife, taking walks and being in the peaceful surrounds of a natural environment. If you are a yoga or meditation practitioner, you are welcome to join us for our daily practice or use use our studio when it's available.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Juan and I have enjoyed Workaway stays as part of our travels across Australia. We are hoping to provide opportunities for travelers to enjoy this beautiful land away from the mainstream travel routes.

We are learning how to look after this land sustainably, in a way that supports native flora and fauna. Whilst staying with us you will have opportunities to learn about growing food, weed control and living consciously and sustainably. We value community and collaboration. From time to time there will be opportunities to participate in workshops, gatherings, working bees and community events, which will provide opportunities to learn about growing food, health and wellbeing and sustainable living.

  • Help

    Help

At this stage the bulk of the help at our property involves gardening. Watering, weeding, pruning, mulching, mowing and planting is what we do on a daily basis. We'd love to host people who enjoy these tasks and love being outdoors. Anyone with previous horticultural, bush regeneration, arborist or permaculture background would be very welcome but if you're keen to help we're also happy to help you build your skills. You'll have opportunities to learn about all aspects of growing food, weed management, and bush regeneration.

At times we'll be working alongside you sharing our skills, other times you may be working independently after receiving instruction on the task.

We are also renovating some of our buildings using professional contractors. At times we may be able to offer skilled Workawayers with building or carpentry skills paid work.

Every couple of months we will host working bees for our larger community, which will involve a few hours of structured work as well as a social camping weekend with shared meals, outdoor fires, etc, which you would be able to join. These may also involve learning opportunities/workshops around particular aspects of caring for country or food growing.

From time to time, there will be creative projects that you could get involved in and we're always open to creative ideas from others.

    Accommodation

We have a range of different accommodation options at our property. We have a bedroom in our house, which shares a bathroom with us. We also have a couple of bedrooms adjacent to our yoga studio, which has a kitchen and bathroom. All accommodation is simple and clean.

You are also welcome to camp in your own vehicle or tent. There are many beautiful camping spots available for self-contained campers.

We provide provisions for breakfast and lunch. Dinners are shared and we love Workawayers who are happy to contribute to the cooking roster at times.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is no public transport to/from our property. We usually travel into Port Macquarie and/or Wauchope at least once/week and would be happy for you to join us on those trips.

To get to us you will need your own car or we can pick you up from Wauchope trainstation or the bus station in Port Macquarie, if needed.

We live a simple and clean lifestyle and only share our property with like-minded people. No smoking or drugs.
