    Description

We are a couple who loves travelling and different cultures. We are very social and like to interact with other people. We will show you the typical Finnish way of living in our peaceful countryside. We love to cook typical Finnish food and are very interested in food of other cultures. We will make you feel as comfortable as we can and welcome you to enjoy the Finnish way of life. I my self, Sinikka, have worked as a teacher for decades. My students were over 16 years old. My husband Ilpo is an engineer/ Master of Science in Economics and also an Entrepreneur. We are now pensioners.

Vehmaa, the place we have the summer house, is a very quiet place. However, you can explore nature or exercise sports activities like walking, biking and swimming. Life where we live is slow, quiet and peaceful, right in the middle of nature. You will have all the great pleasures of pure forest, fresh air and relaxing time, for free. The nearest city is Uusikaupunki, around 30 min drive from here.

Our place consists of the main building which we call " the new house", then we have "the old house" which is your sleeping place and in the addition there is sauna which is in the end of the garden. In the main building we have a kitchen and living room where we cook and eat. The outhouse is on the yard ( there is no flash toilet). The sauna is our daily washing place were we heat the washing water every day.

We are mainly looking for a couple or 2 friends as you will be sharing the house witch only has one room. You are welcome any time during the summer months.

We have WiFi 4G in the main building and you can use it too.

It is possible that you meet many of our friends and family members too as the they come from time to time to enjoy the summer cottage atmosphere and nature.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We have following hobbies which we are happy to share with you
    - I like making ceramics, lace, macramé and yoga.
    - My husband, in the other hand, likes to work with carpenting.
    - We both dance traditional Finnish dances. In summer time we visit outdoor dancing places with live music.

We would prefer to eat dinner every night together ( maybe breakfast and lunch too if possible). It is a great possibility to share out cultural experiences and learn to know each other. Would also be great if you can cook something traditional from your own country.

There is also a possibility to enjoy the light nights during the midsummer or do some bird watching, walking, biking or swimming in a lake nearby.

In addition we would be happy to learn about your hobbies too.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

A couple or 2 good friends would be ideal as you will be sleeping in the same room.

The tiny summer house is your accommodation. We have sheets and towels for you. Please note that this is a traditional wooden summer house without any modern shower or flush toilet. In the courtyard there is a traditional sauna and an outhouse (eco toilet). The outhouse means an ecological bio toilet that is compostable and located separately, next to the house. The washing and toileting works fine (at least we think so), so don't worry. We have electricity.

The kitchen in the new house and barbeque is also available for cooking. If you have a special diet, please let us know beforehand.
