Description
Hi, I'm Peque, the matriarch cat of this humble shelter. The blonde cat next to me is Lola and the black dog is Michelle, who takes care of all of us. The guy on the other side of the window is Nacho, although she often prefers that you call her Neis. Sometimes he gets a little old grumpy but she usually is an open minded and sweetheart lovely host.
We loved Jim Morrison when he said “a friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself”.
A few years ago we started rebuilding this old warehouse and then a mill and later almost ruins and... Now we don't really know what it is, except fun. But Neis is starting to lose the compass. There are too many spaces everywhere and this place is big for her. A lot of beautiful ideas continue coming to her mind but she hardly manages to focus. Well, sometimes it depends on colors in the wind.

Practicing Spanish can be your main objective, although you can also try Catalan or a little Basque, there are even people here who speak Italian and Portuguese.
The Camino is one hour's walk away, and by walking you will reach Santiago in some weeks. Sometimes, when I need clearing my mind, I grab my backpack and join that cosmopolitan flow of pilgrims. It is an extraordinary experience.
In this land between two mountain ranges, the landscape and its people are unique. Cradle of the Spanish language and overflowing history and culture.
In its season, we can look for mushrooms and always learn from traditional Spanish cuisine or practice avant-garde gastronomy. We go hand in hand with some flagship chefs. We’ll offer you the worldwide famous paella up to local traditional plates as “patatas riojanas” and dozens of typical preparations.
And, of course, the wine. You will have the unique opportunity to combine gastronomy and wine in a traditional family winery, one of those that are not visited on tourist routes.
In the property it will be easy for you to find something you love doing -manage a new space, paint a wooden pannel, practice Zen with a cat...- with freedom to apply your creative skills and, well, we hope to learn and share life experiences and knowledge together from each other.
First of all, you will find here friendship and nature. There will be music, some art, gardening and horticulture and, slowly, we will continue the greenhouse building works and some other things. So, you will also have the opportunity to practice with a hammer or a hoe.Help
We have managed to agree with Neis on a few simple and concrete objectives and her commitment not to deviate from that direction:
We need help growing a vegetable eco-garden and two small gardens.
We are also trying to finish building a greenhouse. It's in the middle of the way and a very special project. Joined with an hydroponic structure, incorporates the "sunset lounge" and the upstairs heating system. The work that remains to be done is basically carpentry.
There are always painting jobs to be done. Some with a broad brush and others more artistic. We are also beginning trials of work with adobe (cob).
And... Oh! we almost forget it! We pretend to set up and launch some rockets towards the stars.Languages

You will be able to practice Spanish and Catalan with native speakers.Accommodation
The accommodation is in our own home, in a confortable private room for the guests with a large bed and a good bathroom and kitchen shared with us, like the rest of the house.
During the summer, we set up a space on the upper floor. It is a little special and atypical but it is comfortable and has its charm. What else ...
We are located northwest of La Rioja, the land of wines. The Camino towards Santiago runs very close, just seven kilometers away. You will find us in a rural environment in the middle course of the Tirón river valley, sheltered by the Sierra de La Demanda. Herramélluri has just over a hundred inhabitants.
About two thousand years ago the place was populated by a Roman settlement on the route that linked the Mediterranean with the Castilian plateau.
Daily public transport to Haro (18km), Logroño (50km), Vitoria (60km) and Bilbao (90km) and also to Burgos, Zaragoza or Madrid through Santo Domingo de La Calzada (8km). Railway station in Miranda de Ebro 26 km.A little more information

My best wishes to you too, my friend.
From the first moment I was welcomed in their home and felt very comfortable. She always made sure to check in with me and if everything was okay.

Neis is a very original, welcoming, and generous person, too solicitous of my well-being and very grateful for my help.
