    Description

We live in harmony with nature and speak four languages: Latvian, German, English, and Russian. We love children – they are always welcome here. We have dogs and a cat, as well as a garden and a forest surrounding our home.

There is always something happening in the house and other buildings – renovations, creative projects, and more. Our oldest daughter built her own Hobbit House five years ago, and now our son has started building his as well.

If you are interested in ecological building, this is the right place for you. We grow vegetables, salads, fruits, and much more in our garden.

Guests have their own separate space, ensuring privacy from the host family.

We are also developing a non-formal education and training center for adults and youth. As you can see, there is always something to do – but we also make time to celebrate! We enjoy Latvian folk songs, dances, and playing traditional instruments.

The closest town is Smiltene, just 6 km away – a beautiful small Latvian town with many lovely lakes and parks. We have bicycles available, which you can use to explore the surroundings.

Līga leads a folk group, so you will have the chance to enjoy and learn Latvian folk songs, dances, and traditional music directly with our family.

We really like to integrate our volunteers into family life – this is very important to us – while still providing a separate guest house for your privacy.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a separate guest house, completely independent from the host family, so you will always have your own private space.

At the same time, we enjoy integrating our guests into family life and sharing everyday experiences together.

We offer vegetarian meals, whenever possible using ingredients from our garden or nearby organic farms. We are happy to involve volunteers in meal preparation, and we also enjoy tasting traditional dishes prepared by our guests – for which we will gladly provide the ingredients.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

In Latvia, it is very common to buy clothes from second-hand shops. There are many nearby, offering great quality at very low prices. Almost all of our volunteers take advantage of them, so you don’t need to bring everything with you.

We also have a sauna house, which we use regularly – a perfect way to relax and experience a traditional Latvian sauna ritual.
