    Description

We are a family of 7 and live in an old homestead property in the village of Mundaring up in the Perth hills.
We are Mary-Jo (a teacher), Daniel (a musician), and 3 gorgeously chaotic kids, aged 4, 5 and 6. They're beautiful, playful, and mostly well-mannered, and we're bringing them up in a traditional, minimal screen-time household. Granddad and Granny Jo live in the house as we build the granny flat, and keep the home warm, the animals fed and the grounds lovely. Granny Jo was diagnosed with dementia a few years ago, and requires low level supervision. Granddad is not so steady on his feet, but still the heart of the family and the soul of the home.

Mundaring is a lovely semmi-rural village less than an hour from the city. It is bursting with charm whilst still having lovely shops and every amenity we'd need, even a magical open-air cinema in the summer. It is surrounded by regional and national parks and landmarks including the iconic Mundaring Weir and Lake Leschenaultia.

Restaurant wise, look no further for quintessential colonial-era Aussie taverns such as Mundaring Hotel, Mundaring Weir Hotel, Parkerville Taven... and those are just a few. Café Mojo is must-visit stop at the bottom of the street and there are no fewer than 3 bakeries providing delicious bread, pies and pastries for you to enjoy.

The Heritage Trail, reclaimed from the old railway track, links our home to the bibulman hiking track and you can walk or cycle to your heart's content. Amazingly, Mundaring is only 15 minutes' drive from Midland and it has a large rail terminus straight to Perth, and on to Fremantle. There is even a bus connection around the corner from our house.
