We're a small hostel in the vibrant colonial town of León, Nicaragua. We strive to be a home away from home for travelers from all over the world. We want them to be part of the Tortuga family - our Nicaraguan staff and management. Although we are not a party hostel, we offer guests a number of daytime and evening activities. These include volcano boarding, hikes, trips to a crater lake, beach trips, Salsa lessons and BBQ nights, to mention but a few.
This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the hostel universe! Our workawayer will get free breakfast, coffee/tea all day, free filtered water and free accommodation. On BBQ or burger nights, you get free food. The hostel has a small pool that can also be used. As an additional perk, our workawayer gets to go on all the tours with our tour operator for free (volcano boarding, beach trips, hikes). This job is a great opportunity to brush up your Spanish as you will interact with our local staff and partner organizations.
As our volunteer, you are in charge of promoting hostel events and activities. You will interact with guests, provide them with information about tours and activities and motivate them to participate. We have 4 weekly evening activities (in and outside the hostel) that include a movie night, a quiz night, and going to concerts. Your task is to animate guests to participate and make sure they have a good time.
Bed in 10-bed dorm (2 beds are not allocated, so it's technically an 8-bed dorm) with new mattress. 2 types of breakfast available for free. Coffee and tea as well as filtered water included all day.
You will have lots of time to interact with the local population, head down to the local beaches, try local food on the market, take Spanish lessons at a favorable rate, learn to dance Salsa and connect with other volunteers.
