Description
Hi, we are a family of 6, Mark and Vania (mum and dad), and 4 delightful kids, ranging from 11 to 4 years of age. We are fortunate to live on 12.5 aces in Central Otago, on the outskirts of a small town called Alexandra, in the south island of New Zealand. Our property consists of a varierty of trees including fruit and olive trees, lots of flowers and some veges, lots of wild rabbits along with chickens, 2 miniature ponies and a friendly golden retriever family dog, Goldie. We are a Christian family whom love meeting new people learning about them and their beliefs and culture. We are also a very busy family, with the kids involved in a number of sports and music.
I am a stay at home Mum, and are begining a small project/business as a grower and designer with flowers I do a bit of voluntary work locally also. My husband is a Medical Doctor working at Dunstan Hospital a local rural hospital and as a General Practitioner in Roxburgh. We throughly enjoy getting out into our amazing environment, from running to mountain biking and tramping and water sports when we can.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are a friendly family and hope that Workaway's could learn a little of our New Zealand family life culture, experiencing a busy family life. We enjoy eating each evening meal together around our dinning table sharing the days activities and having a good laugh. Our faith, music and sports are all important to us, not to forget hospitality which we really value.
We also live in a stunning part of New Zealand, where we have very distinct seasons. On our door step we have some amazing walks and biking trails (we have bikes to borrow), great cafes, swimming pool and/or lake to swim in, and an outside skating rink in the winter season, just to name a few activities.Help
We would love some help with looking after our property this will include garden work, pruning, some planting and formation of a new garden and firepit and painting projects. Open to cooking also and any other jobs that pop up around the house/property.

We have a one bedroom cabin (sleepout) detached from the main house. It contains a queen bed, a couch, cloths rack and heater/fan as needed. There is a toilet and washhouse at the back door for easy access for Workaways. The bath and shower are inside the main home. Internet is freely available also.
We help ourselves to breakfast, and lunch... if a few people are around for lunch I would make a salad/soup/toastie as needed. The evening meal I usually make so it is ready to be eaten around 6pm when we sit down all together as a family to share this time and meal. We have our own home-kill beef from my family farm and enjoy eating lots of veges also. What else ...
There is loads to do in and around Alexandra township. We have bikes that Workaways are able to use and sometimes a vehicle depending on the circumstance. We are 15-20 mins walk from the Alexandra township. There is a lot of biking/walking/running tracks in the area, that can be reached from our doorstep. Also beautiful wineries to visit, cafe's, and of course if Workaways love playing with kids we have 4 to entertain.
