Description
Hi, I'm Angela and I live in Paekakariki, a small beach village about 30 km North from Wellington. There is a good train service from the city. It has cafes, a local sauna, a very large park and is ideal for cycling, swimming and walking - being on the Te Araroa trail. The house is an older home in a large garden. There are bicycles available for use.
I sometimes need help with projects - like building a fence or making a garden. Sometimes it is for cat and house sitting if I am away. Currently I need help for cat/house sitting for about two weeks in January starting now ( Dec 27th). Then later in January and beyond I need help with making a fence/wall with wood and stones and completing an outside bathroom and sleepout.
For the house and cat care, there is a garden which would need some watering in Summer and you would be welcome to any ripe vegetables. I can accommodate one person easily and possibly two. You would come a few days before I go to learn the routine. The exchange includes accommodation only, except when I’m there and then it includes food.
You are welcome to get in touch and ask questions.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Paekakariki is an interesting village with a lot of music and events. There is a group called the Mermaids that swim in the sea every morning, a community garden group and lots of other things. When I am there I am happy to share my lifestyle. I am a yoga and meditation teacher and vegetarian, so I'm happy to show you some recipes and do some yoga.

Help
For the cat/house minding you would need to feel comfortable with cats and ideally love them and have some cat experience. They will be a bit shy at first, but don't take long to get used to new people. You would need to keep them in at night and feed them and spend some time giving them attention. The garden would need watering on dry days.
For the garden and projects, practical experience are very helpful.

Accommodation
The accommodation is usually a self contained cottage in the garden. Other times it is inside the house.

What else ...
The train goes regularly to the city and takes 45 minutes. You can also take a bicycle on the train. In the other direction it is one stop to Paraparaumu, which has a lot of shops. There are a lot of walks and places to visit.
My lifestyle is a quiet mindful one, we don't wear outside shoes inside and aim to keep the house clean and tidy. I meditate morning and night and its a good place here to rest and enjoy the natural environment. I prefer minimal technology when we are working together.

The internet is quite fast and stable. You would need to arrange work around feeding the cats, though there is some flexibility with that. When I'm here late night calls are not practical but when I'm away its fine.

Space for parking camper vans
The parking is on the street, but it is wide, quiet and fairly level. It may be possible to park in the drive and plug in to power too.
