Description
We are 2 Swiss persons, living since almost 20 years on our Finca in South Catalonia, with our 2 dogs, only 8 km from the Mediterranean sea near l’Ametlla de Mar, one of the few remaining authentic fishing villages. The many quaint ‘calas’ (coves) are uniquely attractive for nature loving, individualists. Besides l’Ametlla de Mar, there are many places to discover in the surrounding area, like the famous Ebro Delta with its soothing rice fields and rich population of water fowl, the Priorat with its original villages, olive orchards and vineyards perched in swindling heights, the Roman city of Tarragona; Barcelona and Valencia only a 2 hour train ride each away.
The 2 of us, now being and feeling almost 20 years older, are looking for temporary help with certain tasks on the finca: clearing wooded areas, pulling weeds and roots of brush, painting iron- and wooden doors and screens, taking care of the mostly indigenous natural park (it is not a garden) and similar jobs.
There are 2 houses on our off the grid finca - one of them annexed to the main house - is a well equipped accommodation, where our workawayers would live and be quite independant. While we would certainly share some meals, you would usually cook your own meals, we would provide basic foods. Wifi is available, albeit at times somewhat scrambled due to rural connection.
We expect our workawayers to be uncomplicated, independent, easy going and trustworthy, ready to work happily 25 hours a week. If you buy your own food, we would expect 20h a week. We can accommodate up to 3 people at a time and ask you to stay for at least 2 weeks.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Getting to know people you would otherwise not meet is obviously the foremost cultural exchange, we were world travelers ourselves and would love to hear about our workawayers travels and adventures.
Our surroundings can offer so much:
The closest village is l’Ametlla de Mar, it has been named one of the remaining authentic fishing villages, its beaches are small coves, spreading many kilometers, interrupted by rocas doradas (golden rocks) Nearby are also the huge and very interesting Ebro Delta with enormous rice fields, natural parks and protected water fowl population, the Priorat, mostly known for its superb wines, original, old villages and skyrocketing vineyards, one of them called ‘scala Dei’ (Gods ladder) cosmopolitan Barcelona, as well as colorful Valencia are only a 2 hour train ride each away.Projects involving children

We offer our separate small house, comfortable and well equipped, it sleeps up to 3 people. Be aware that we are off grid and have no water connection, so it is important that our guests will be reasonably careful with the use of water and electricity. We prefer couples, because although we provide basic food to cook yourself, we are not able to offer our volunteers to be ‘one of the family’ and it might be too lonely for one single person.
What else ...
Our workawayers are expected to work 25 hours a week, they can choose their working hours themselves and have thus freedom to select their time off. Transport will have to be agreed upon individually, depending on the circumstances, the persons, their needs and trustworthiness.
