    Description

Hello! My name is Javier and I am creating a small rural project focused on gardening, self-sufficiency, nature and community life.

The project is based around a garden/orchard area where I am slowly developing productive spaces, improving the land and experimenting with different ideas related to sustainable living. This is still a growing project, so helpers become part of the process and can see things evolve step by step.

Tasks can vary depending on the season. They may include helping in the garden, preparing beds, planting, watering, maintenance, organising spaces, light outdoor work, cleaning areas, small DIY tasks and general support around the project. Sometimes there may also be creative tasks, planning or building ideas for future improvements.

I enjoy sharing conversations, ideas and learning experiences, especially around simple living, local life, entrepreneurship, nature and alternative ways of creating communities and meaningful projects.

The area is located close to beautiful natural landscapes, mountains and traditional villages. There are opportunities for walking, hiking, enjoying local food, exploring rural Spain and experiencing a slower lifestyle away from busy cities.

This place is ideal for people who enjoy nature, do not mind simple rural life and would like to participate in an evolving project rather than arriving at a finished place.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Travellers can experience everyday life in a traditional Spanish mountain village and discover a slower and more local way of living.

I enjoy sharing meals, conversations and daily activities, so visitors will not only help with the project but also take part in village life and local culture. I like preparing typical Spanish food and sharing the customs of the area.

During their stay they may learn about gardening, small self-sufficiency ideas, rural living and what it is like to build a project step by step in the countryside.

I also hope to learn from the people who visit. Everyone brings different experiences, cultures, languages and skills, and I think this exchange is one of the most valuable parts of hosting.

I want Workawayers to feel welcome, included and part of the project and daily life rather than simply staying as guests.

The area around Candelario also offers nature, hiking routes, traditional architecture and the opportunity to experience authentic village life in Spain.

  • Help

    Help

The help depends on the season and the current stage of the project. This is a personal project and I am not planning to ask for help with any business-related tasks. It is not a business, it is just my garden and my land where I work for myself.

    Typical tasks may include:

-Helping in the garden and orchard
    -Preparing soil, planting and watering
    -General maintenance of outdoor areas
    -Organising tools and spaces
    -Light DIY tasks and improvements
-Cleaning and keeping shared areas tidy
-Small creative or practical tasks related to the development of the project

Most tasks are simple and do not require previous experience. I can explain everything and people can learn as we work together.

The help is usually around 2–5 hours per day, 5 days per week, leaving enough free time to explore the area, rest and enjoy the experience.

I am looking for people with a positive attitude, who enjoy nature, rural environments and are happy to participate in a developing project.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Workawayers will stay in my village house located in the centre of Candelario, a traditional mountain village with a quiet atmosphere and easy access to nature.

Accommodation includes a private bedroom with a bed. I also have an additional room that can be used as shared accommodation if needed.

The bathroom and common areas are shared. There is fibre internet available in the house.

I provide meals and I enjoy cooking and sharing typical Spanish food during the stay. I want visitors to feel comfortable, welcome and part of daily life rather than staying in separate accommodation.

The house is simple and connected to village life. In winter heating is provided with butane gas, although during summer it is usually not necessary.

Candelario is a beautiful historic village surrounded by mountains, hiking routes and nature, so guests can enjoy both local culture and outdoor activities during their free time.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

During free time, helpers can explore Candelario and the surrounding mountain area, enjoy hiking routes, nature walks and discover traditional villages nearby.

Candelario is known for its historic streets, stone houses and peaceful atmosphere. It is a good place for people who enjoy nature, photography, mountain life and a slower rhythm away from large cities.

The area offers access to forests, viewpoints and outdoor activities, especially for people interested in walking, hiking and spending time outside.

There are cafés, local restaurants and small shops in the village, and nearby Béjar provides additional services, supermarkets and transport connections.

Internet with fibre connection is available in the house for people who need to work online or stay connected.

The experience is ideal for travellers looking for a mix of cultural exchange, village life, nature and participation in a developing rural project.
