Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Haida Gwaii (previously known as Queen Charlotte Islands) is situated off the coast of British Colombia and is an absolutely enchanting archipelago with plenty of indigenous Haida culture. Known for its beautiful rainforests, pristine beaches, and rich biodiversity, these islands offer a stunning blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making them the perfect destination for learning, exploration and discovery. There really is something for everyone!
As such, there are plenty of opportunities to learn more about the local flora and fauna and sea life and our guests are always interested in sharing their experiences. Plus, you will get lots of experience working in tourism and hospitality within the glamping sector which is very unique and very fun.
We recommend you visit to find out more about all the activities you can do here, get a more thorough understanding more about the area, and research all the options that interest you for cultural exchange and learning opportunities within the local community.

Help
This is an active, hands-on role. A large part of the work is cleaning and maintaining the site, so please apply only if you’re comfortable with that.
Tasks include:
• Cleaning and resetting glamping tents
• Laundry and linen care
• Cleaning shared spaces (geo dome, BBQ deck, bathrooms)
• Restocking beach fire areas and guest supplies
• Continental breakfast setup
• Watering flower baskets & maintaining herb gardens
• Light gift-shop sales from our Airstream
• Guest relations – helping guests have the best possible stay
• Suggesting guest add-ons (seafood, meats, pizza crusts for ovens)
We’re looking for self-starters who notice what needs doing and take initiative.
The work is very simple, but the property is quite large and has a fair amount of stairs so you will definitely be moving a LOT through your working hours. As such, a good general level of fitness is required and you must bring good walking shoes.
You will be supporting our regular staff and full training will be given. We require a minimum 4 week commitment, but prefer May to September for the entire season.
Who This Suits
• Friendly, reliable, physically active people
• Those happy with cleaning as a core responsibility
• Guest-focused and detail-oriented
• Comfortable living remotely
• Couples welcome (shared days off not always guaranteed)
Schedule & Commitment
• Season: May–September
• May & June: part-time / quieter
• July & August, September : busier peak season
• 5 days on / 2 days off - or part time when needed
• Minimum 4-week commitment
• Paid minimum wage for hours worked (please check your visa conditions)

Accommodation
On-site accommodation in large 5th-wheel trailers with kitchens & bathrooms
• Maximum of 4 volunteers at a time
• Use of cedar sauna and hot tub (around guest use)
• Use of van and electric bike to explore the island
• Paddleboards, kayaks, and endless beaches
• Camping gear provided for off-site adventures
This is a remote location—perfect for nature lovers and those wanting to unplug.
What else ...
We are in a remote location, but we have a dedicated site vehicle which you are welcome to use on your days off and before / after shifts as long as you have an international driving license. If you don't, we will help out with transport, but you will not have as much flexibility.
Arrival to the island is from Vancouver and is either via air (Air Canada into Sandspit or Pacific Coastal into masset) or via ferry with BC ferries from Prince Rupert into Sandspit.
On days off, you can fish, kayak, paddle board, walk on the beaches, explore one of the many, many hiking trails on the island, visit the local museums and shops, take a day trip to the local islands, or just chill and enjoy the beauty of your surroundings. We will work with you to make sure you have flexibility in your hours to achieve anything you want to do while you’re here.
