    Description

2025 has a few unknown's for us now. We had planned on selling the ranch, but now are not so sure. We will need help with sanding and painting some outbuildings. There will be fencing and woodcutting pretty steady through the summerl. We will start on our winter wood supply in May and continue on to October if required. We usually burn about 22 cords of wood, a cord is 128 cubic feet.....so that is literally tons of firewood!

Doug and Pat live on the 140 acre Ranch in beautiful BC, Canada. We have two grown boys .... one works in Alberta, one in Vancouver and a daughter that lives on the ranch, (with her dog),.... and works nearby in 100 Mile house. Doug and Pat are both retired and busy with keeping the ranch running. It is a big property and we have lots of projects to work on, as well as take care of 4 horses and 1 cat. We have a 10 year old and a 20year old Morgan mare, and a 15 year old and 24 year old Tennessee Walker pair. Pat is a quilter and loves to spend her free time on quilting projects, Doug likes to be outside with the horses. We have been Work-a-way hosts now for 13 years and really enjoy the program. Common chores here are feeding the horses, gardening, cutting wood for winter, fixing fences, painting, cutting the grass....it never ends :) We enjoy having guests and learning about other peoples cultures and lives. We hope you will cook for us at least once while you stay! We like to play cards in the evenings, horseback ride, ski in the winter.

This will be one of our last workaway hosting years. We have had so many great experiences it will be hard to close it down.

Our participation for workaway hosting is for our family and not a commercial venture, so we do not provide a salary or hourly wage.

Sorry, we can not accommodate a vegan or vegetarian diet.

Come and joins us for month or two!

    Accommodation

We have a travel RV as a summer cabin for our work-a-way guests. It is a 24' camper with self contained bathroom, shower, kitchen. Very nice and clean! In the winter months we sometimes take guests in to our home with us, or we also have an outdoor cabin that is just used for a bedroom. We have a few options and usually sort that out with you in advance.
