    Description

Hi! We are a family of 3 near Salt Spring Island on 65ft wooden boat. My partner and I have a 2 year old son and a quirky 4 year old golden retriever named Honey. After backpacking and being workawayers ourselves, we are now new parents and new to boat life! Up until the birth of our son, we’ve spent the last 3 years living in our converted sprinter style van on Salt Spring Island. We love it here, the nature, the community, the fresh produce! And now we’ve started a brand new adventure on a boat. Wood boats require a lot of upkeep, and both our son and dog also need quite a bit of our time, so we’d love your help with all of it while you get to experience this beautiful place we get to call home. We love adventures, eat well and care about a clean and orderly space for all to enjoy. My partner Landon has spent the majority of his career as a heavy equipment operator but is currently working as a carpenter. He loves climbing, snowboarding and high lining when he gets some spare time. I work part-time at the marina as well as own my own fertility coaching business.

If this sounds good to you, we'd love to hear from you! And on that note please no AI generated messages. We want to hear from the unique human YOU as to why you believe you'd be a good fit to join our family.

There is so much to love about Salt Spring Island. It’s beautiful nature for start. If you’re an outdoor person, this place is for you. You will get to experience a small community with a passion for sustainable farming practices. You will also get to experience boat life with a toddler and dog. If you have an open mind for learning, you can get alot from this experience. Many things I learned from my workaway experience have carried forward to my way of life now as a Mother and the way I choose to live today. We look forward to you getting the same opportunity!

    Help

What we are looking for is a variety of skills, but mostly attention to detail and self motivated individuals. Think lots of time with our son, help with household tasks, dishes, cooking, sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning, keeping up with pet hair, and general boat maintenance such as scrubbing the deck, helping us gather water, fuel, groceries, manage recycling and garbage. Animal care such as feeding, watering, brushing, and daily walks while providing her with all the love and attention. We hope you are someone who is willing to learn and try new things, and takes pride in doing good work on projects! You must be okay with hard work outdoors, small children and dogs!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have your own bedroom in the forward cabin that has a toilet, sink, and closet space. It’s my favourite cabin in the whole boat. Imagine being rocked gently by the ocean as you drift off to sleep each night. There are showers and laundry available at the marina for a fee ($1 for 4 minute shower/$4 wash/$5 dry). We have limited internet available upon request and no TV out on the boat, so please prepare for that! 3 meals a day will be provided. Snacks and extras are your responsibility, but you will have access to our shared kitchen space, cupboards, and fridge at all times. At this time we cannot accommodate vegan diets. You will have access to kayaks and our paddle board as your own means of exploring the shoreline whenever you'd like, and we also live downtown of the village so you can also walk to access shops, walking trails, pubs and restaurants too!

On your time off there is much to do! Cozy up and read a book with the sounds of the sea right out your window. Go for a kayak to any of the multiple beautiful beaches surrounding us. Meditate or do yoga on the bow. Walk into town for some delicious organic food and treats or take a bus and head to a lake or hike for the day. There are plenty of options!
