    Description

We are Tousif and Pramila, your hosts. We have been working for over 10 years in the NGO sector, primarily with the Korku tribe, an indigenous tribe in Madhya Pradesh Central India. We work primarily with members of the Korku Tribe on projects connected to education and livelihoods. This work includes doing street theatre, classes, and workshops for the local community.

Our organization has 20 locally paid staff from the surrounding community and area. This includes the two of us founders, 6 project managers who are in charge of various projects, 7 community teachers and 5 workshop leaders. They do not have skills in computers or English, which is what we'd mainly need support on from our Workawayer.

You will live at our center near Roshni Village, Khandwa District, Madhya Pradesh.

This is a rural area with beautiful nature, but we do not have access to modern / city comfort and fast internet connection. You will have a rural immersion experience.

We are looking to improve our English and share our work and culture with new people from India and beyond. We would love you to come stay with us. We can show you rural life and culture, and would appreciate your help with English practice, photography, videography, website, social media and reporting.

We can also teach you some Hindi and Korku language, and farming. If you want to experience the real life of rural India this is a good place to stay.

    Accommodation

You will stay with us in our center near Roshni village, Khandwa District, Madhya Pradesh.

Our center is made of zinc and cement, and has a shower, and western toilet. You may share your room with our team members / other work-awayers, but you will have your own bed of course!

We offer 3 meals a day. The food is typically, roti, daal, rice, and vegetable (the basic Indian village food). Our center has a cleaner and cook from the local village, so you do not have to cook, but if you would like to buy your own ingredients and cook for yourself that is also fine.

For laundry you can wash clothes by hand or get cheap services in the nearby village Roshni.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

In your time off, you can come with us to see local attractions like waterfalls and dams. You can also explore nearby villages and enjoy the peace of rural life.

Our center has internet access via hotspot only, so we suggest buying a local SIM card for your internet use. Internet is not as fast as you may be used to in cities.

Our center has internet connectivity, but only via hotspot. You can buy a local sim and monthly data plan for around $10 USD. We are happy to take you to arrange this. Connection is generally slow, but reliable. This is probably not a good placement for nomads who need to do streaming, large downloads, or frequent video calls.
