  • Description

Dear workawayers, I am looking for help in the garden immidiately! You find all informations below! Looking forward to get to know you!

I am living in the north east of Germany, close to Berlin. The area is called "Land of the 1000 lakes". For me, this is the most beautiful area of Germany :-) - and I lived in many places and all directions in Germany ;-). If you love nature, wilderness and water - you are in the right place :-)

Spring is arrived and I seriously need a hand in the garden. Minimum stay 10 days. LONGER STAY VERY WELCOME!
Dear Workawayers please read the following lines carefully:
I take every application serios. I like to ask you to do the same. If you have, after reading my profile, the longing to live and work here with me, you' re very welcome to ask for a free volunteer position. If your just looking for ANY place and applying in several places at the same time, I like to ask you NOT to apply HERE. If you cant wait for an answer a few days, this is not your place (I am answering within two or three days).

And now enjoy reading the profile :-) I am looking forward to hear from you!

You can discover our beautiful area by foot, with a bike or the canoe :-). There are lakes everywhere, where you can fish for your dinner :-) (you need a permission to do so).

Since I am a selfemployed, I have always much more work than I can handle alone. In 2017 I started a huge garden project where I grow fruits and vegetables. The first steps are done, but the garden still need a fence on one side since roe deer and fellow deer already discovert the garden as a place for healthy breakfeast ;-) And of course in a garden there is always something to do: making new beds, seeding, watering, weeding, harvesting... I'm using lot´s of wild plants for eating or making jam or jelly out of it. We live in an area where you can find lots of free fruit trees along the roads. The road to our little village is a plum avenue ;-) I try to use much of this free fruits as possible as jam, dried fruits and in other ways.

If you watch the pictures in my profile, you see the the garden when I started. It changed a lot since than. Last year I had more food from the garden than me, my family and friends could eat! ABUNDANCE! This year I will change some things and having again much more variety and coming closer to self - sufficiency with vegetables.

Besides the garden I need help with daily tasks in the house, like cleaning, cooking, repairing things...

I also could need some help with the computer and movie making (youtube).

I have woodstoves in the house and need always lots of firewood!

The place, where I have my garden is around 3 km apart from my home and belongs to a friend of mine. Since we are guests in his place I am helping out if he needs a hand and you might be asked to help too.

The work is around five hours a day, five days per week. You will have two days off. After a carefull itroduction you will work mostly independent. You need to be a self starter and having a good time being with yourself. Sometimes there might be other workawayers around, but there is a good chance that you spent a lot of the time alone! I am not living in the garden and I am not your entertainer! I love spending time with the workawayers I am hosting, having a canoe trip or cooking together, sitting around the campfire and having good conversation and exchange, but summer is high season for my business ( I am a Wilderness and Survivalinstructor) and that keeps me busy.

I am not really counting your working hours, for me it`s just important that the work in the garden is WELL done. I am a hard working, self employed woman, who loves what I do and do what I love. I`am just living my live and doing with love whats needed.

I have better experience with people in their twenties and older. If you are younger and you feel a strong longing to share your skills with me - you are totally welcome to apply.

Heavy smokers and people who are drinking lots of alcohol and using drugs in any way are not welcome here! If you smoke, NORMAL cigarettes, here and than, and you are willing to leave the property to do so, I can live with it. But please let me know in advance. A glas of wine or beer now and than is also o.k.

Since it is unfortunately not a matter of course for some of my guests to tidy up behind themselves, I would like to mention here to be on the safe side that I expect you to wash your used dishes yourself, to leave the kitchen as tidy as you found it and also to treat the equipment in the garden with care and clean up after work and put them back in their place.

If you are using drugs or abusing alcohol during your stay - you have to leave my property immediately!

RIGHT NOW I AM LOOKING FOR HELP IMMEDIATELY - IF YOU CAN STAY MINIMUM 10 DAYS IS O.K. (I prefer long term stays up to 3 month). The first week is always for getting to know each other. I need to feel comfortabel with the people who are living in my garden :-) If there is anything totaly wrong between us, I might ask you to leave after one week. I really hope - for you and for me - that it never comes to this point :-)

You will get the same food as me. I eat simply and mostly from the land - like wild herbs, vegetables from the garden, wild fruits ... There will be not always a fridge full of food from the supermarket - you need to go and pick your fruits and vegetables! If you have special diatary requirements you need to take care for it by yourself. I am a meat eater (wild game or eco). Since I am teaching Traditional Animal Processing and Tanning there is a good chance, that I am processing a whole deer and furs in the garden or in the kitchen area. By the way there is a shared kitchen you can normaly use (with some exceptions), toilet and shower are also close by. If you eat only vegan or vetetarian its o.k for me, so long as you dont want to convert me and you can live with kitchen and pots where meat will be cooked in.

I am looking forward to hear from you :-)

I am always happy to make a nice canoe trip with my guests :-) If you enjoy nature there are a million possibilities to enjoy your free time. I am teaching Wild Eatabile and Medicinal Plants, so you have the opportunity to learn something about it, while working together with me in the garden. If I am teaching classes during your stay, you might able to participate. Everything has its time, in spring and summer I focus more on the garden and holding classes. In fall and winter I spent more time with tanning and practice wilderness and survival skills by myself. And whenever its possibel I am a traveler and workawayer too :-))))

  • Accommodation

Normally you will stay in a tent. If possible bring your own camping gear, at least your own sleeping bag. If you are a light weight traveller, everything will be provided for you.

There is very limited internet, NO WLAN!

You will get healthy, local, seasonal food from me, but I don't buy your choclate --- I prefer icecream ;-) Sometimes we eat together and sometimes not. You will have access to a kitchen for cooking your own meals.

I eat very simple, local (vegetables from our garden and wild plants) and seasonal. That means I dont buy Bananas from South America if we have trees full of plums or the blackberries in the forest are ready to eat. Same with vegetables. If we have zuchini, charts, red beetroot, carots and radish in the garden, I am not buying vegetables in the supermarket. I just eat whats growing. And I gather lots of my food by my self. You will have the same food like us. If you have other preferences you have to take care for it by yourself. Be aware, that you have to be responsable by yourself for your own food. There is not always a fridge full of food from the supermarket. You have to do something if you want to eat! That means, if YOU want to eat fruits, YOU have to pick them. If YOU want to eat vegetables - YOU have to harvest or gather them! I show you everything you need to know about this way of food, but you need to be willing to learn and do it by yourself!

We are living in the COUNTRYSIDE! The public transport is poor and there are nearly no possibility for shopping close by. But there is always a way to come to town with me or my friends. After accepting you as workawayer, you will get clear instruction from which trainstation we will pick you up. For organising flights or traintickets use Berlin as destination. Since I am an experienced travellers too, I can help you to organize your travel to us.
