This is a unique center for cultural exchange. We welcome workaway helpers and guests from all around the world. Lake Tahoe is a natural wonder with endless opportunities to explore and become involved in outdoor recreational activities. The culture in Tahoe changes dramatically throughout the year. While summer focuses mostly on lake sports/hiking, the lifestyle in the winter is built around skiing and snowboarding. Heavenly Mountain is located just a 2 minute walk from the hostel, and many guests/helpers will spend everyday carving up the slopes in the winter. We have a special place in the community, and many locals will hang out at the hostel. This provides guests/helpers with special insights into life in Tahoe that most tourists would not otherwise experience.

Help
We are looking for outgoing, hardworking, friendly, smiley, happy, funny, articulate, computer literate humans (or aliens) to join us! We want someone who will ask a stranger how their day was, offer recommendations of fun things to do, see a need, and then fill that need with a hardworking attitude while simultaneously having a fantastic energy when checking people in and out. We want to maintain our reputation as the fun, friendly hostel we are and our team is what makes that happen!
RECEPTION / HOUSEKEEPING DESCRIPTION:
Helpers help us with both cleaning and reception - duties will change based on the season. We are seeking young travelers from all walks of life to join our team. Our goal is to facilitate a special, one-of-a-kind experience for our team members by playing to their individual talents, passions, and interests. How will you leave your mark on the hostel? In return, we provide an amazing working and living environment in one of the most beautiful resort areas in America! As a team, we do lots of fun things together. You'll laugh more than you ever thought possible, and you'll meet great people from all around the world. We provide shared as well as private accommodations for our staff. Compensation is compliant with US labor laws (valid work visa required) and commensurate with experience, time commitment, and the nature of the position/expectations.
Positions start at $15/hour (California minimum wage) with opportunities for promotions, raises, and bonuses based on performance.
So, if you are interested in joining us in beautiful Lake Tahoe and are willing to commit to approximately 3 months, send us a message!

Accommodation
Helpers stay in shared rooms, at least two people per room, each with its own bathroom. All of the beds for the helpers have privacy curtains. There is also a full kitchen available at the hostel, free laundry, and a computer room.
What else ...
There are some amazing activities to do here in Tahoe, and plenty of seasonal opportunities at ski resorts, summer tourist activities, and local restaurants. During the winter months, a keen interest in snow sports would definitely help the time pass! During the summer/ spring months, your only problem will be not having enough time to do everything this place has to offer (as long as you like outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, swimming etc). A vehicle would help you get around and explore the area, but is definitely not necessary! We are in a very central location- walking distance from the lake, Heavenly ski resort, grocery store, pharmacy, shops, and restaurants. There is also a very convenient shuttle that connects our neighborhood with the airport in Reno, NV.
