Description
My husband and I are retirees; he is Zambian and I am Canadian. Our retirement project is an eco-lodge, situated half-way between the city-centre of Livingstone Zambia and the world-famous Victoria Falls.
When the Covid pandemic started we left Zambia. Our lodge operations came to a halt for quite some time. Our current manager is doing a great job of reviving our lodge business. It will still be a long haul and we have a lot of work to get the standards up again. Our natural swimming pool has been our "Jewel in the Crown" until Covid came, and it is now in a very bad state and totally unusable. It needs a complete overhaul.
We believe that the solution to our raising enough funds to have our pool professionally repaired is marketing. Our lodge is still a generally unknown "gem". We need a person who is knowledgeable and competent in the marketing field to put our lodge on the map. If our occupancy improves, we think this will turn the tables for us. We are looking for a volunteer who can help us launch a marketing strategy, and hopefully train a local person to continue the efforts.Types of help and learning opportunities
Help with Eco Projects
Gardening
DIY and building projects
Hospitality/Tourism
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Volunteers will learn much about Zambian customs and culture. They can also visit the many physical attractions in the Livingstone area. There is not an adequate organized public transit system in Livingstone and most people take local taxis. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to go to town, or to go the opposite direction to the Victoria Falls.
Help
We have a natural swimming pool which has been unusable since April 2020, when the Covid pandemic started. We have not been able to raise funds to fix the leaking pool, which we understand needs a complete renovation.
We'd love to have someone come to our place and help with our marketing! We trust this would put us in a position, financially, to get our pool renovated.Languages spoken
