Description
Our smallholding is located between the mountains and the sea near the villages of Cliffoney, Kinlough and Mullaghmore, Co Sligo. We have a polytunnel and outdoor vegetable beds in which we grow our own food. We are a family of 2 adults, 2 teen children and another grown-up child who lives in Dublin. We have 2 friendly lab-cross dogs, 2 outdoor cats, hens and ducks. We are deeply inspired by Fukuoka's One Straw Revolution and the principles of agro-forestry. We enjoy surfing, sea swimming, snorkelling, going to the many local beaches, meditating, playing music, practicing yoga, meditation, Wimhof, watching movies and entertaining friends and family. We eat a mainly vegetarian diet and are committed to the principles of sustainability and permaculture. We have volunteered on organic farms as a family, and have enjoyed sharing our home and daily tasks with others over the past five years. Ideally we are looking to host people who are happy to help out independently and have skills and interests in the areas of permaculture, growing food organically, cooking and carpentry. Accommodation is in a self contained caravan in our garden. Projects on the farm include helping to establish a forest garden, tending to vegetables, clearing drains, fencing, harvesting and storing food, general maintenance, building, renovations and repairs, cooking for the family, helping around the house and gardens.
