    Description

Hi! I’m Yasmin, a chef on parental sabbatical with big dreams! My husband Nick is a mariner by trade and an aspiring carpenter. We are a Palestinian/Canadian couple with two small children and a cat.

We strive to grow our own produce and cut flowers, as well as raising chickens on our small acreage.

We are a no frills homestead offering seasonal, home made meals and accommodations in exchange of a few hours daily house/yard tasks. This might include raking, building garden beds, transplanting and compost tasks. You might also assist in some play with the children. There are many small tasks around the yard for the handy ones!

You will stay in our trailer which faces the garden and the main house suitable for one or a couple. The trailer is hooked to power and gas for cooking. Facilities and extra accommodation are in our home.

The vibrant community of Quadra Island boasts bike trails, beaches, scenic hikes, a farmer’s market and lots of local entertainment and activities. We can provide you with a bicycle or transportation to activities of interest. We even have a zippy boat for some island adventures!

We look forward to hearing from you!

    Yasmin, Nick and the Littles!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a true multicultural Canadian family! We speak English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Italian. Our kids are home schooled and a part of our every day activities.

We like foraging and preparing all our food from scratch, including butchery and other food preparation such as canning and preserving.

Quadra has a wonderful community Center where we join in various activities and volunteer opportunities. Heriot Bay Inn has karaoke/open mic nights and live music. There are plenty of other social activities for those interested in cultural aspects.

We love to learn about others’ cultures and traditions especially when relating to food!
We welcome anyone of any nationality, faith or gender.
