Where we live is absolutely stunning. On a clear day, we can see the mountains of Morocco across the shimmering Med. Being off grid is challenging at times but we love it just the same. It keeps us closer to nature. The road up to the ranch is little more than a mountain track. This is an opportunity to experience the beautiful and diverse land of the Alpujarras, ranging from pine forests and alpine meadows to wooded valleys and gorges as well as almond, olive and orange groves. A chance not only to discover spectacular landscapes and inspiring scenery, but also to experience the culture of the area. Local farmers are still using mules to plough and the moorish water channels to irrigate their land. There is plenty to learn with the caring & rehabilitation of the horses, dogs and cats & learning hands-on general farm practices. We also grow our own fruit and vegetables and farm in traditional Spanish methods.
Help
Volunteers will be helping on the ranch each day to help with our Association for rescue animals: mucking out, cleaning tack, exercising horses, walking dogs, farm and fence maintenance & taking turns with domestic chores. We provide food and accommodation.

Overall it was nice but there are a few things which I struggled a bit with and none of them was mentioned in the reviews. So if you want to know about the shifts etc you can read other reviews; mine tells something new.
I don’t find this host too fair to the volunteers; in exchange for their help… read more
