We sold our house and we were ready to start our world adventures in March, but then the restrictions came!
We are now planning to stay in Scotland until next summer and we would love some extra help with the garden of our new home, minor renovations, and spending time with our kids while we work online.
We both teach English online from home and our children go to the local high school. Our lives can get very busy and we need some help around the house. We recently had a digger come to resurface our garden because it was left in a bad state by the previous owners. It is now a blank canvas and we would love some help creating and planting flowerbeds, making a vegetable garden, repairing walls and digging/making a patio area and paths. If the weather is not great we have some indoor painting jobs we would like help with too.
We love having guests in our home and would like to learn all about where you come from. We can suggest places for you to go and see on your days off and hopefully (restrictions permitting!) we will be able to take you to some places too.
We have three small dogs and one cat who all love visitors.

Help in the house
Our Workaway friends could practise their English as part of our family. There will be opportunities to learn gardening, building and maintenance skills as well as sharing cooking ideas and recipes. We like to take our guests to historical and cultural places of significance or recommend others that can be visited in your time off. We like to have all evening meals together as a family with our guests.
We have one bedroom for one or two people to help with our children, gardening, general maintenance. Maybe some cooking or some helping in the house too.
We can't wait to hear from you!!!
You will have your own bedroom in our home (at the moment we can only offer you bunk beds). Our family home is in Helmsdale, Sutherland, which we have started to renovate. We enjoy hillwalking and the outdoors. Come and explore the stunning scenery of Sutherland and surrounding areas. We live two minutes walk from a beautiful river walk. Five minutes walk from the sea and five minutes walk to beautiful hills.
Our house in Helmsdale:
We have recently purchased this four bedroom house. We are completely renovating this house and garden and it is 'work in progress'! It is needing a lot of work and has to be fully refurbished. It has hot water, a working bathroom and it is heated by open fires. In the kitchen, at the moment, we have a microwave for cooking, a fridge, a kettle and a toaster.
*At the moment we have converted our second living room into a temporary kitchen as our kitchen is only walls now and waiting for the builders to come back.
* Our bathroom is very, very old and not pretty. It is ready to be renovated once the builders can come back.
In Helmsdale, there are bus links and a train station. Helmsdale has a selection of shops and coffee shops as well as fantastic coastal and mountain walks.
It is a great base to explore the NC500 route and what Scotland has to offer.
