    Description

Hello! We are a Japanese family of 4, me, my wife, 2daughters at 7 and 4 YO, a dog and a chicken.

I am an academic researcher working at national institute. I focus on community compost and social application. The Food Forest Project is an important element of that, trying to figure out "How can we bring food forest in the urban setting in Kyoto". It has only been born!

We are happy to welcome a helping hand at our Food Forest Project.
It will involve actual building of the project in real life as well as online.
Building paths and planting trees, taking photos and making website. Every bit will help to push the initiative forward.

We have a dog, chicken and 2 daughters who are just learning about the world.
They will be excited to make friends from all over the world!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Kyoto is filled with Japanese traditional culture. It has been the capital for over 1000years.
It holds the most magnificent traditional gardens in the country.
For any one interested in nature, to see how Japanese life in the countryside interacted with the surrounding forest and maintaining a delicate balance will be some thing new.
For anyone interested in landscaping it will be an eye-opening experience to see how Japanese gardens are made to comport for centuries before modern technology.

And this is what we are trying to combine into our needs today.
Observing closely into the techniques of Japanese traditional lifestyle and incorporating it into today's urban food forest. In the midst of that I hope we can find space in ourselves to enjoy the Japanese tea and Zen meditation, to cherish the moment we share with one another coming from different parts of the globe.
