  Description

  Living and creating together on our farm in southern Tuscany
  
  We live on a large farm in the hills near Saturnia, surrounded by woodland, meadows, olive trees and plenty of nature. Our farm is peaceful and remote, with very little light pollution and beautiful night skies.
  
  At the moment, Felix, Bill, Joelle, Svenja and her son Matteo live here. We are people of different ages and backgrounds and see ourselves as a small community. Kindness, honesty, respect, humour, good communication and mutual support are important to us.
  
  We share the farm with horses, donkeys, goats, dogs and cats.
  
  Our farm is still developing. In the long term, we would like to combine farming, nature, educational/cultural activities and horse-assisted therapeutic work.
  
  We are looking for volunteers who are not simply searching for accommodation, but who genuinely want to become part of daily life on the farm for a while.
  
  Helping on the farm
  
  We usually ask for around 5 hours of help per day, 5 days per week. The schedule is flexible and we decide together what needs to be done.
  
  Typical tasks include:
  
  * maintaining the land and clearing vegetation
  * tidying and organising different areas
  * small repairs and maintenance
  * simple building and DIY projects
  * improving shared spaces
  
  You do not need to be an expert. Motivation, initiative and a willingness to learn are more important to us than experience.
  
  After an introduction, you should also be comfortable doing some tasks independently.
  
  People with practical or creative skills are especially welcome. We have a work-atelier and are happy to host people who enjoy working with wood or stone, repairing things, building or creating.
  
  Our animals are part of everyday life, but it is important to know that the help is currently not mainly focused on horse work or animal care. Most projects involve practical work and the ongoing development of the farm.
  
  Accommodation and farm life
  
  Life here is simple, close to nature and sometimes rustic.
  
  At the moment, volunteers stay in a spacious four-person tent on a raised platform, with a beautiful view over the surrounding landscape.
  
  There is also a compost toilet, a heated outdoor shower and an outdoor kitchen in a tiny house.
  
  You should feel comfortable with a simple lifestyle. There are animals, insects, dust, soil, sunshine, rain and sometimes mud.
  
  This is a real farm, not a holiday resort.
  
  Food and community
  
  We eat mostly plant-based, simple and fresh food. Depending on the season, vegetables, herbs, fruit and berries come directly from our garden.
  
  Typical meals include vegetable dishes, pasta, rice, pulses, salads and homemade bread. Vegetarians and vegans are very welcome.
  
  We enjoy eating together, but we also respect that everyone sometimes needs time and space for themselves. For us, community does not mean doing everything together all the time.
  
  Free time and surroundings
  
  The famous thermal springs of Saturnia are around a ten-minute drive away. The surrounding area also has small Tuscan villages, Etruscan sites, woodland, walking routes and plenty of nature.
  
  When time allows, we also enjoy doing things together.
  
  Our farm is quite remote, so having your own vehicle is an advantage. Public transport is limited. Without a car, you will spend a lot of time on the farm and in the nearby area.
  
  If you are looking for nature, peace and a break from city life, this can be a wonderful place to stay.
  
  Who we are looking for
  
  You will probably fit in well here if you enjoy practical outdoor work, are reliable, communicate openly and are comfortable working independently.
  
  A respectful attitude towards people, children, animals, nature and tools is important to us.
  
  You do not need to know how to do everything. Openness, willingness to learn, initiative and a genuine desire to contribute matter much more.
  
  Our farm is still evolving, and not everything is finished or perfect. If you enjoy being part of a place that is growing and changing, you will probably feel at home here.
  
  Length of stay
  
  We prefer a minimum stay of two weeks.
  
  This gives everyone enough time to arrive, get to know each other and settle into the rhythm of farm life. If it works well for everyone, you are very welcome to stay longer.
  
  Languages
  
  We speak German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Luxembourgish and Swiss German. Our main everyday language is currently German.
  
  Getting here
  
  The most convenient airports are Rome Fiumicino and Pisa.
  
  If you are travelling by train, Grosseto is the best station for us. By prior arrangement, we can pick you up there. The drive to the farm takes around one hour.
  
  If you are coming by car, the route goes via Saturnia, Semproniano and Catabbio. The final two kilometres are along an unpaved road.
