During my stay, I also had the best opportunity to improve my language skills while participating in all kinds of events. The family was incredibly supportive, even helping me with my English studies, which was invaluable to me.
John is an exceptional host, thoughtful and generous, always ensuring that I felt comfortable and supported. I am deeply grateful for the time I spent with the family and for the countless memories we created together. Jenni and I exchanged wonderful ideas regarding art, collaboration, family and travels. She is an amazing writer with fascinating ideas. Her ability to care for Julia is heartfelt, kind, and consistent. In fact, it is hard to imagine a better elderly companion than Jenni. She seemed to absorb the joy and wisdom of Julia to inspire and inform.

I was disappointed Jenni did not care to share her creative side. I'm sure it was my loss. Ultimately it is fine to spend time painting and writing in her room in solitude, despite my wanting her energy and help in the main studio. But since that was her preference, I found a little desk to put in her room so she could enjoy her time alone. Because she is so quiet we were concerned she was not happy and we had a hard time getting a response on if she is okay and how we can make her more at home.
Maybe somewhere down the road I'll run across Jenni's art after she publishes her book! But I hope it is before then. 'I miss Jenni', has been uttered by Poppa on more than one occasion! We miss her very much and will open our doors anytime for her. Delightful soul, intelligent and kind.

It is a bit difficult getting from Vallejo into San Francisco without driving, but if you aren't set on seeing the city for an extended period, the ferry can be quite convenient and sufficient.
