    Description

    Dear Planetary Helpers,

Please note: Please be patient and we'll get back to you ASAP! Merci, Gracias, Gratitudes

We acknowledge that our beautiful Earth is changing rapidly due to human impacts. Help us experiment with living simply, consciously and peacefully no matter what we face. Together we choose to thrive and be resilient. Our main goal is to live sustainable by honoring the planet, her soil and growing organic vegetables and fruit for ourselves and the wider community. Currently we donate our produce to the local free food bank store.

We have a new Solar Array to construct and our solar leader has some great new and economical ideas on how to go about this. Help and Learn with us.

We were awarded funds to work on a 22' trailer as a farm and emergency response Office and First Aid station. As an off grid farm we can offer peoples some services in disaster events.

Spring means lots of seeds to tuck into the soil while we also prepare beds and plant seedlings. We always have small construction and garden projects ready for you. We need lots of signage for the farm and painting.

We have nice camping places for tents or RV type campers. We also have a tipi, small yurt and two large canvas tents to set up at the end of our rainy season. in the meantime we have a space up the ladder in the farm house.

Pending for the 2nd year : This year we are starting up a Farm Market project and workshop events. We would like to host, long-term, a single or a couple who have garden and/or construction experience. Our certified instructor, Sydney, use Biointensive gardening methods and teaches us about veganic/closed-loop methods to nourish the soil and plants. If you want to gain this experience you would be welcome to spend 2 days a week with her projects. From now until November is our main garden season.

Sydney is doing a three series hands on workshop" Quinoa from Seeds to Seeds. As a Workaway you can attend free.

Notice: We are a non-profit (501c3) charitable farm and this new venture will not be producing income for the farm for at least two years. We could use volunteers at this point that have some garden experience and want to learn more about our methods while receiving room and board for part time work..

An aspect of our community is that we value substance-free and clear-minded peeps in our communal areas such as the common house, garden and while working on projects. This includes cannabis, alcohol, nicotine etc.. We share a belief that this creates a safer and easier environment for clear communication and working harmoniously together.

If you are very community oriented, curious, looking for a shared garden, alternative energy sources, natural building, sustainable practices, and plant-based eating values... then we would especially enjoy hearing from you.

We are learning how many folks are sensitive to products containing the ingredient: Fragrance. Fragrances are chemicals ingredients that are hazards to health and well-being. Please read all labels on lotions, potions, shampoos, conditioners, laundry soap and other products you may use. Thank you for taking the time to be conscious of what you bring into the community. Aromatherapy is vastly different if they are quality made...but may still be an irritant to some.

Our diet in our community areas is plant-based for its sustainability, lower environmental impact, less waste and freedom from killing industries, as much as possible. We try to have a beautiful year-round garden for much of our food. We buy bulk legumes and grains. Our big greenhouse helps to extend our growing season and is a place for plants and people to hang out and relax. We will be glad to share what we know and you are welcome to experiment in the kitchen with our vegan and raw recipe books.

Our Community Land Trust has the deed to 27 acres of plants and mixed Redwood forest 2 miles inland from the Pacific coast of western Mendocino county in California. We have a secluded parcel and yet are only a short, easy biking distance from the small town of Ft Bragg.

We are located about 3-4 hours drive north of San Francisco. The Mendocino Transit Authority MTA can bring folks here by bus from Santa Rosa, Ukiah or Willetts.
We are self-governed with a 4 member Leadership Circle and learning to use the concepts of Sociocracy for our meetings, proposals and decision-making. We are learning, teaching and practicing Marshall Rosenberg's Non-violent Communication otherwise know as Compassionate Communication. We enjoy sharing in discussions on these and other topics. We have a growing library to share with our guests and occasionally videos.

  • Help

    Help

We could use your help with many projects including solar array construction, ongoing gardening projects: weeding, planting, harvesting, natural and salvage building, preserving harvest, food storage cellar, , shelf building, organizing. (House bathroom remodel, new little house to complete. cleaning, signage and art. Maybe a mural?.. computer and website assistance always appreciated on the side.
So much is happening and we could use self-motivated, upbeat and team-players to bring about the Vision for the Farm. It is often quite cool (40s farenheit ) at night rainy in winter and layers on and off during the day.

If any of this sounds of interest please contact me and we'll meet and journey on life's path together for awhile.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

This farm is in a "homesteading" phase .... we do need to have folks who can live without some of the usual amenities of a home.
We value and practice conservation of resources. . We live off the grid and have limited solar power and battery life in the winter but enough to take care of basic needs. Our well water is good and a solar pump fills our water storage for cooking, drinking and bathing. We have both composting and a flush toilet and hot showers. Garden produce is for all to enjoy. We still are dependent on propane mostly to supply our cooking and hot water needs.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

As mentioned before there is much to do in this area. Museums, forest, coast, ocean, harbor, kayaking, swimming, canoeing, community events abound. The inexpensive MTA bus travels around Ft Bragg and points around, connecting to San Francisco and beyond. We are 2 miles from Ft Bragg town and that could be biked, or we visit town by car and give rides.

Our internet accessibility is with our personal cellular "hotspot". The town is close and has many ways to access the internet. Lucy's Laundry is in town near a little natural food store and has wifi. We have a great "solar dryer" set-up. Library in town is also available with printers, internet, and much more that the books.

We would like people to communicate compassionately, directly and honestly with each other. Beautifying our surrounding, respecting soil, air, plants, animals and humans is important to us. Quiet times between 10pm and 8am are appreciated. Sundays are "no motor" days on the farm.

The farm has two rambunctious McNab cattle dogs residents that are trained to stay within the boundaries of the 28 acres. They protect the garden from deer incursion. We would prefer no additional animals.
