Description
Hello. We live in Ireland on the southeast coast in a place near Youghal. We have 4 children and we would love all our children to learn german through play. Ideally if you could spend some fun time playing while speaking German that would be great 😁😁😁 our two older kids speak really good German and would love our two younger girls to also speak German as well.

We live in the southeast of the country and surrounded by lovely beaches and scenery. There is history all around us. Our nearest towns offer alot of tourist attractions. Great to have all this on our doorstep. You will have the use of our car for all local trips and at weekends as long as we don't need it but usually we are OK as we have two cars.

Help
We would love someone to practice german through play and fun so they'll have another language. We would also love if you could drive and drop our older son to school and his after school activities.

We provide a lovely double room an suite and you become as much as our family as you want. We are very generous. You welcome to any food I buy or cook and also would let you shop with our money of you prefer that. We are very flexible and will always look after your needs.

We live near the coast with lots of beaches. Youghal is a town steeped with history and very pretty. Dungarvan is also a nearby town with a cycle way more than 40km long along the coast.

I got to spend three wonderful months at Tara and Hugh’s. They made me feel very welcome right from the start. Tara and Hugh are very caring and always made sure I am okay. I brought David (13) to school and activities and picked him up, so we spent quite a lot of time in the car together. It is really nice and easy talking to David. He has a great fantasy and humor and can even express it fluently in German. He is also up for some deep talk, has a very kind heart, and is always helpful.
Ben (11) is quite fluent in German as well. Once you are present, the boys even talk to each other in German. Like David, Ben is always up for a quiz game or ‚city, country, river‘. He is very ambitious, smart, and fun to argue and play with.
Emma (9) is very lovely, creative, and charming and always up to do some crafts or play darts or Quixx. Her German is better than she admits. She understands quite a lot but needs to be reminded to answer in German and believe in her skills.
Eva (6) is the family’s whirlwind. She always has a smile on her face and is bright and eager to play with and talk to you. I started doing some German sentences and counting to 20 with her. She is a quick learner but very shy about her skills.
I got to meet some of Tara’s and Hugh’s friends who all included me instantly. Tara’s parents are also very warm-hearted and always offered an open ear and a helping hand.
They all are very interested in you as a person, which made me feel very much at home.

They have two lovely Cockapoo dogs who are just as welcoming as the family and are usually (;)) well behaved. They also have four cats, three of which are very lovely and cuddly. Those cats even made me grow fond of them (I am not a cat person). I appreciated that Tara and Hugh trusted me with all their pets while they were out of town!

Youghal is just 10min down the road and has everything you need in a town. I got to spend some time there, reading about its history and walking along the beach while David was at soccer. For other short-distance trips, I got to use their car as well, which was really attentive of them! I recommend the Ardmore Cliff Walk, the Mahon Falls, and Lismore Castle Gardens as some lovely places nearby. On the weekends I had free time to travel but I was equally welcome to join their activities.

I couldn’t have asked for a better host family, they are the loveliest! I already miss them all – humans and pets!
