We are a british couple who moved from Gloucestershire UK 22 years ago to aquire a cider farm. We made cider in the Uk before coming to France.
We have 27 acres of traditional cider apples, bush and standards, that we planted 16-17 years ago. They are coming into full crop now. We make keeved, naturally sparkling ciders, Calvados (apple brandy) and other related products. We have a big vegetable plot, quite alot of fruits for eating, a B&B room plus a small campste. We do alot of major fairs in the UK Easter to Christmas every year with our cider products. We have a flock of sheep (60 ewes)
Helping with Tourists
Help with Computers / internet
The main work is in our cider orchards, more in the winter months. In the summer when we are absent for a few days at a time it would be the one B&B room, looking after the very small campsite and doing gardening. There would be some cider labeling, bottling and computor work connected with the business. Our lovely old farmhouse and outbuildings usually need a bit of decorating work or some minor building work etc in places. Help with the sheep can be needed from time to time
We have a caravan on our small site, a toilet, shower, washbasin, handbasin and electric hook-up are included. The campsite has a lovely views and is secluded. We also have a room with a bed, washing up sink, and separate bathroom. It was one of our sons' old room and though a bit basic is in a very nice location and has it's own separate entrance. When we are at the farm full board is provided, Ben, who is staying with us at the moment, has said 'I've never eaten so well in my life.' We use fruit and vegetables from the garden, our farm lamb, cider and Calvados in our cooking. Plenty of homemade cakes and desserts as well as fairly traditional main courses as well as french bread and cheeses.
We live in a beautiful part of Normandy, Pays d'Auge reknowned for cider, cheese, Calvados etc. We are 45 mins south of famous costal resorts such as Deauville, Trouville etc, are near to the battle of Normandy site, 20 mins from the world famous Basilique of Lisieux and have lovely countryside with touristic attractions in every direction. Our neighbouring parish is the world famous Camembert where the cheese originates. the local town at 2 mins away is named the City of Calvados and it has various events throughout the year.
