Description
My partner and I, live in a house with some dogs and cats. We are both retired. We decided to move to rural France because we wanted to be closer to nature, after living in large cities this was well overdue.
We like France, it is vast, there are so many different and fascinating landscapes in just a one country. It has great history, great language, great food, very friendly people, and relatively affordable houses as there are still houses to be found that need some love and care to preserve them for the future generations.
We have an oold house with a large garden situated in a small town surrounded by mountains. There are ideal cols for racing bikes, Tour de France passes nearby, superb hiking trails, and canyoning, kayaking and similar activites are nearby. The town has some major shops and service centres, like the post office and pharmacy.
The house needs some attention to make it really comfortable. Some help from an experienced DIY person , nothing too difficult but we just need another pair of hands or two, would be greatly appreciated. There are some jobs that an experienced person would be needed, like an electrician, plumber and a carpenter. For those individuals some compensation for travel expenses would be offered (agreed on individual basis according to experience and quality of tasks carried out). We are looking for very flexible and willing individuals who are prepared to be fair in this exchange of working 5 hrs per day for the accommodation and food provided by the host. We have breakfast at 8 am, then a little break before starting on various tasks at 9 am for 2.5 hrs that will be agreed before hand, then we have a tea break for half hour, after that another 2.5 hrs work so that we finish and start preparing lunch at 2.30 pm after which the whole afternoon and the remainder of the day is spent as you wish. Dinner will be at the time agreed by all and prepared by all or taken turn in doing it. We all go to bed here between 10 and 11 pm.
Very important, we cannot host smokers or alcohol drinkers.
We hope you are vegetarian and know some good vegetarian dishes. We offer three meals per day which we all would take turns to make.Types of help and learning opportunities

We need help all year round so somebody who is travelling and wants to stop over in the south of France from one week to several would be ideal. There are regular buses and trains to larger cities if one wanted to do that. Otherwise, there is plenty to visit around here. Please note, we are vegetarians and prefer vegetarian guests.
