    Description

My wife and I own 2.5 acres of awesome jungle land on Paunch beach, Isla Colon that we are building a jungle lodge on. We are a young, adventurous expat couple that recently moved to Panama from the States. We love the ocean, so an island seemed like the ideal place to start living to the fullest.

We are looking for someone, or a group of people, to help us join our team in building an adventure eco lodge just off one of the best surf beaches on Isla Colon. It's a big project and labor intensive. The restaurant and 7 cabins are complete. However, we are still looking for qualified people to help us finish building 1 square rustic cabin in the trees of the jungle, concrete pathways, some raised decked platforms, cabinets and furniture. Most of the construction uses pressure treated wood and concrete. Also, we are building on a large hillside, so while we are just steps aways from the beach you do need be aware the construction terrain isn't sand and beach front, it's thick hillside clay.

Past experience with construction, concrete, and woodwork is needed. Please be able to build something :) I'm not an expert by any means, so I do need people who are willing to jump in with smart ideas and just start building without my help! Must feel comfortable building without a ton of technical direction. Unfortunately, we can't provide much training. That's not to say we won't be there physically, every step of the way, but as I mentioned we aren't experts, so we are looking for people to take the lead and help us bring our plans to life. Please include what construction experience you have in your email.

For November: In November we only need help with construction, painting and staining. In exchange for your help and hard work we will provide lodging in one of our private guest cabins, free food to cook your meals, and alcohol drinks at our bar for cost (so super cheap). We will have fun! This isn't going to be all work and no play! We love to have a good time at the bar and pool when the work is done. *️*️*️ If you are willing stain and paint wood please reach out for work in November. You don't need to be a professional builder to stain wood and floors, but you do need to be detail oriented *️*️*️

For December: Starting in December we will need help in the kitchen cooking for guests and helping check guests in. We will still have some construction projects, paining and staining available too. Starting in December all of our guests cabins will be rented out. If we ever had a time when they aren't rented for a few days we are happy to give our volunteers a "mini vacation" in them. However, in the meantime you will be staying with the rest of the staff in a shared room and house in the back of the property. It's a rustic house, but does have electricity and internet.

You only have to volunteer 5 hours for 5 days of the week. When you're not volunteering you are encouraged to have fun and explore the islands. We are building on the main island, and just steps away from great surf. Did I mention the land we are building on is beach steps away from great surf, so while taking a work break you can swim in an amazing Caribbean ocean, surf and explore Bocas Del Toro!

We hope to build something creative and amazing. We would love some great people to join us in the adventure!

    What else ...

Bocas Town has stores, restaurants, bars, a small independent theater, and a ton of things for a tourist to do. The islands are also home to some world class surf. If you like to dive, snorkel, or just lounge on a beach you will find yourself happy and entertained in the area.

We are from the states and don't speak much Spanish, but some of the people working with us do speak Spanish. That being said we do need all of our volunteers to speak English.
