    Description

Open the door to the spirit and sound of the jungle.

We are a group devoted to the rescue and documentation of the vast cultural knowledge before it is lost to the world. We are dedicated to the conservation of native medicinal plants and the natural habitats that support these culturally and ecologically significant species. Our focus lies not only in the preservation and stewardship of endangered plants but also in the practices, legends and ceremonies that they inspire across the world. We have deep relationships with tribal elders who help guide our work, teach us how to carry this knowledge and pass it forward to future generations.

Our truest intention is to inspire and empower others to create medicinal gardens and diversify the guardianship of Earth's ecosystem for the health of all.

Our center has hosted more than 300 volunteers since its inception. We have developed a special offering for those searching to live in health, service and abundance. The education given to make helping hands helpful is quite extensive and a great investment on our part. The greatest of teachings are given to those who work and devote themselves to the service of humanity.

Should you have special talents in ethnobotany, mycology or marketing please apply as such.
If you are searching to work and learn from the plants directly, please ask about our internship.

***Due to the type of training needed to be fully activated in this garden, we offer two types of Volunteer positions:

The Heart of our center: The Kitchen
We are looking for people inspired by the garden to table creation of pure food to steward the Main hall space.
More information about this position below.

    Carpentry:
We are building another house on the property (the first initial build of many) and are in great need of someone with building/carpentry experience to support us as we finish. More information about this position below.

As we grow and develop our understandings of one another, other topics can be integrated into your time at the center. The knowledge here flows quite passively from person to person as it desires to be transmitted and explored. There are plenty of opportunities to learn in addition the volunteer responsibilities.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We seek to involve the public in our study of medicinal plants and to promote an ethic of conservation, land stewardship and respect for traditional ecological knowledge. We host tribal leaders from across the globe to share their culture and knowledge and have oftentimes acted as a bridge to many indigenous nations.

    Heart Center: The Kitchen
This entry level offering is for the person who is excited for the ability to learn and adapt to this environment. Because one month is little time and orientation to the space can take 2 weeks to learn the language of the land we ask that volunteers spend a month dedicated to the MainHall. We are looking for people with the passion and energy to take the reins in the kitchen to make meals for our community, the Heart of our center.

    Tasks include:
*Processing harvests from the garden- into meals and snacks to support our community as we move through the work day. Help us to make the greatest use of all we are growing! (Cooking on average for 5-9 people)
*General Maintenance: Clean counters, keep sinks free, clean floors, organize table, kitchen laundry: rags, rugs, towels

Those who have the heart to serve with love, grace and fire unlock a deep medicine within that cannot be described until experienced. We come to the living alter of our space every day first asking what it needs from us before we turn to ask for our needs and desires to be met. In the same way, we hope to find people aligned with the love that drives us forward to be vectors for the plants to thrive. After dedicating a month to the kitchen which provides the foundational learning of the flow here, there are ample openings for a shift in work responsibilities and focuses.

    Specialized position: Carpentry
We are building a small house on the property that is mostly finished but needs welding and general construction support. We are in the process of installing screens around the cabin, putting doors up, welding support beams, tiling etc.
This person should have experience and passion to apply, natural building knowledge especially desire!

Great to be clear. This is not a holiday location. Working in the Costa Rican sun and jungle rains can be difficult.
We are adventurers and explorers that know how important one single day can be.

The farm is planted in a beautiful form of permanent agriculture and offers abundance unseen in most places in the world. There are serval other eco communities in our valley. Including a natural building school and ecstatic dance/event space. We are located a 20 minute drive from the beach, swimming hole is walking distance and some of the most beautiful rivers are accessible by car as well.

We are host to many great master plants. Beyond our great devotion to plants, we implore others to join our task to perpetuate and protect the legends each species may hold.
Much of your time will be investing in the food forest in the creation of pure food, medicine and culinary delights.
