    Description

Originaly from Belgium, I arrived with my boat in Livingston during the pandemic!
A few months later I bought a piece of land along the river Río Dulce.
We are located in between Fronteras Rio Dulce and Livingston.
The last roads, connections with cars, bus or any other transport with wheels are in Rio Dulce or Puerto Barrios.
The only way to visit me is by boat, Lancha, cayuco ... kayak or amphibian plane.
The village name is Cayo Quemado.
Left of the property when looking to the direction of Rio Dulce you have The Rio Dulce National Park and on the right side The Biotopo Protegido Chocon Machacas and just in front Golfete.
We are surrounded with water although we are connected by land to the mainland.
This is real nature, like I wrote before: there are no roads nearby!!!
You’ll see amazing birds, manatees, otters, Iguanas and off course all kind of fishes , Robalo, palomitos, shrimps and crabs.
We have a guardian living here with us full time, he's also a very skilled carpenter who with the help of a lot of local muchachos builded our house and his house.
Fidel a Cuban dog found when we where sailing around Cuba lives here also full time.

This is a fisherman village, and probably one of the rare and last places in the world that is far away from roads.
Fishing is the activity of the locals ...
so, we do catch and eat local shrimps when it's the season…
I like to meet and exchange about ideas, food, travels, news, art, music, movies, series and etc...
Since one year or so we are connected with Starlink.
The water has all year long nearly a perfect temperature and normally its not salted as we are just far enough from the sea ...

  • Help

    Help

I would be very happy to invite somebody (male or female) to join me giving us a helping hand as I'am doing a lot of stuff myself.
I could also use somebody who likes to cook.
We’re starting to make our own veggie / fruit garden where a helping hand could be useful.

I have no experience about language exchange but totally open as I would like to learn more Spanish, I planned to go to Antigua for a few weeks but never took the time as I'am a little bit to busy here in Rio Dulce.

We made 2 very nice rooms with private bathroom for my daughters that can be used for guests as my daughters are living in Europe.
We eat 2 times a day all together, the evening we are light eaters but there’s food for people with appetites.
