Hola!
We are Zack and Molly, nice to meet you :)
We are currently moving from Mexico to Guatemala via Belize, after having spent the last 6 months exploring Mexico. We have prioritised slower travel, getting to know a small selection of places that resonate with us rather than rushing from destination to destination in the typical backpacker style. Finding some wonderful workaways along the way has facilitated this, and allowed us to meet locals and find like-minded communities along the way. Sustainability is super important to us and drives our life and travelling ethos. We try to reduce flying as much as possible, looking for alternatives such as hitchhiking and taking buses. We are both vegetarian, and interested in rewilding projects and care for the land.
We are both passionate about adventure and outdoor sports, and have spent the last year living in the Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands; working at Glenmore Lodge, Scotland's national outdoor training centre. Here we were centre assistants which included housekeeping, bar, kitchen work and stores. This involved manual labour on the grounds and upkeep of equipment. We loved the physical element of the work here, especially when it was outside. We moved here for the connection to nature and loved living in the forest, under the mountains and next to lochs. We don't think we could handle a city again after this! Our life tends to revolve around climbing and mountaineering, but we also love to swim, run, cycle and spend slow and mindful time with the forest and the mountains in our local area. We are particularly interested in being involved in crag maintenance and development. in our time in Mexico, we have been lucky to make lots of wonderful friends in the Mexican climbing and highlining community, which has created opportunities to help develop a new crag and learn about local life in different areas.
A little about us individually:
Zack: I am also fascinated with music and art, I love to play my mandolin, bodhran and sketch my surroundings. I studied Music and Art History at university but the last year has seen this creative side of my life put to the side in favour of climbing and adventure. I hope to reconnect with this part of myself and would love to help with creative projects and construction projects of all kinds. I love physical and hands-on, outdoors work and I really hope to learn some totally new skills! I grew up around gardening and love to work with plants and I love to cook creatively. I also have an interest in fermentation processes, exploring things like tepache, kimchi and kombucha making.
Molly: Hola!
Tambien estudié psychologia a
universidad y estoy interesente en la mente y las cosas que me hacen feliz
como la meditacion y el yoga. Espero que encontrar lugares muy tranquiles, con
mucho paz y con communidades hermosos.Interests
