    Description

Our project is a makerspace, a space of open workshops. We offer a platform for education, empowerment and social encounters for refugees and locals in the region of Ioannina, northern Greece.
In 13 different working areas, we offer material, equipment and know-how for people to create solutions for their daily life problems, to share skills and unfold their potential. We believe that people are the experts of their lives. We don’t see people who fled their countries as helpless victims, but as talented and experienced men, women and children who can be an enrichment for our societies – if we provide the structures that allow them to integrate. This is what we aim to do on a small scale. The existing working areas are: wood, metal, bike repair, sewing, creative, media lab, plastic recycling, sports, electronics, kitchen, library, Music Lab and garden.

    Want to Join our team?

Our Workshop Supervisors are responsible for managing the workshop so that people have the opportunity to use it independently, but also to gain and enhance their skills. Our Workshops are heavily used with both very skilled individuals coming to use the space, as well as people who have no experience yet.
Some of the tasks are: facilitating the creation of projects and repairs, organize guided workshops, procurement of materials, communicate with the makers, contribute in project's fundraising 1h a week, be part of decision making and team meetings, contribute in general tasks (reception, cooking and cleaning).

This is a platform for meetings and encounters, for brainstorms and common projects. While bringing in their skills and working and living with an international team of experts, new team members get to meet, interact and work with people who came to Greece in search for freedom and safety from countries outside of Europe.
