Look at how beautiful Hoi An and the nearby beach are. The historic old town is surrounded by rice fields. In the evening the city transforms into a picturesque second world with its lanterns.
Develop your skills in interacting with people. Get to know lots of cool young travelers and experience cultural exchange with the Vietnamese.
Learn how events are prepared, why there is egg and coconut coffee, how lanterns are made and where the best tailor-made suits and dresses come from. And if you don't feel like it after work, there are loungers by the pool and the beach isn't far either ;)Help

Should I apply for a visa?
Please check the website of your responsible foreign authority to see how long you can stay in Vietnam without a visa. If you want to be on the safe side or stay in Vietnam for a longer period of time, then apply for a 90-day visa (see link below). It costs $25 single-entry.

Do I need special vaccinations?
That depends on how deep you want to penetrate the country. For the tourist areas like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hoi A you don't need much except hepatitis A. Do you also want to dive off and deep into the country? Then you also need dengue fever, hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies and Japanese encephalitis… Here too, check at the international vaccination center if necessary.
Do laundry?
In Vietnam you can get laundry done very cheaply almost everywhere. It's better to pack a little less and wash more often. It costs about $1 per kilo. Bed linen and towels are provided by the hostel ;)
Where do I book my flight?
The nearest big city with an international airport is Da Nang (airport code DAD). From there it is only about 45 minutes to Hoi An and there is a lot to see on the way :)
Use the Grab app!
Transport in Asia is very cheap if you use the Grab app. You can easily book a driver with a scooter or car for a few dollars. A trip from Da Nang to Hoi An in a car only costs around 20 dollars. It is reliable and safe.
Pro tip: Register your virtual Revolut credit card.
Credit card in Asia?
Get an extra credit card for your journey to be on the safe side. Take two cards with you. This is relatively easy with online banks such as Revolut. It doesn't cost much and you have more security because your actual bank account remains unseen.
Vegetarian or vegan?
The Vietnamese cuisine offers a selection of dishes that do not involve animals. Tofu is very popular here! We have a special veggie page on our menu. Please understand that we do not have separate pans and pots.
Cash or Card?
To really experience Asia you need cash in your pocket - the local currency is the Vietnamese Dong. When you arrive in the country, withdraw 2,000,000 Dong, that will get you pretty far - that's about $80. If you have time, look for an ATM from e.g. VPBank, they don't charge a fee. But basically, to be on the safe side, bring up to $100 in cash ($50,$20,3x$10 and 10x$1).
SIM card and eSIM
A mobile phone card costs you around $10 a month with 5GB of data per day and 5G speed. Viettel's network is pretty good, alternatively Vietnamobile is a bit cheaper. You can get it directly at the airport or in everey city.A little more information

We do have internet, but in high season the old network in Hoi An is very busy, which sometimes leads to connection interruptions. We cannot offer a closed room. Otherwise, a mobile network card in Vietnam is relatively cheap. You can get one starting at just $8 per month with 5 GB of data per day. We cannot offer a closed room.
