Join Our Family Quinta in Portugal

We’re looking for a kind, mindful & grounded individual or couple to join our evolving Quinta from June (or sooner if you have your own camper/van). If you’re aligned with family life, early mornings, shared rhythms, and respectful living—we’d love to hear from you! 🧡

In July & August we would welcome some support in holding Waldorf children’s activities, one or two half days a week - so if you have Waldorf experience with kids - amazing! ⭐️

We’re also seeking a longer-term part- or full-work exchange for someone, or a couple. Let us know if that’s you 💫

    About Us & Our Vision

We’re Sarah, Mendel & Mani, originally from England, now living on a beautiful piece of land in central Portugal. We moved here in March 2024 after a long camper-van journey, and we’ve been pouring love into regenerating the land, building gardens, starting building projects and setting roots ever since.

Our dream is to live a self-sufficient, family-oriented, and community-connected life, guided by Permaculture, Biodynamic and Hügelkultur principles. Eventually with some kind of Waldorf educational project based here, for children and adults.

This is a wonderful place for people who enjoy the outdoors, simplicity, and contributing meaningfully to a land-based lifestyle.

    What We’re Looking For

    We appreciate people who:
    • Are self-motivated, reliable, and grounded in common sense.
    • Can happily sync with our family rhythm—early to rise, early to bed, aiming for a grounded, expressive and respectful home.
    • Are happy to follow the systems we have in place and respect our shared space.

You’ll help with a mix of practical and creative tasks: garden work, animal care, projects, and home help. We balance necessary chores with fulfilling activities!

    Typical Schedule
    • Monday–Friday, about 5 hours/day (or a mix of longer/shorter days), food included Monday - Sunday
    • Early morning starts (6–9am depending on the season).
    • We plan at least a week ahead and value clear, mutual agreements.

We eat gluten- and dairy-free (due to allergies), and you’ll be well fed with organic, nutrient-dense meals. We welcome shared cooking and tidy-up.

    Current & Upcoming Projects
    • Expanding veggie/fruit gardens & chicken area (and maybe sheep!)
    • Creating outdoor play spaces: a mud kitchen, climbing area, and more!

    Accommodation Options

Depending on the season and availability:
    • Private attic room in our home
    • Bell tent in the field (dry months)
    • Your own campervan with bathroom access (water point and electric hook-up ready from June-ish)

Natural, biodegradable products only, please—our greywater feeds our fruit trees.

    Our Family Life

We practice Aware Parenting with our energetic, expressive little boy who attends a Waldorf Forest Kindergarten. Our home aim is expressive, connected, and full of life—he loves mud, motors, music, and movement!

Evenings are usually quiet family time, but we enjoy local festas, markets, and gatherings on weekends—feel free to join in when it suits.

    A Little About Us
    • Mendel leads gardening, land work, and runs a fermented food business remotely.
    • Sarah is focused on mothering and training to become a Waldorf teacher, with dreams of creating a learning project here.

We value open communication, reflection, and meaningful connection—and we’re always learning and evolving.

    Does This Resonate?

If this lifestyle speaks to you, we’d love to hear from you.
Please write the word ‘heads’ in your message so we know you’ve read to the end!

    Let’s grow something beautiful together.

Our home is tucked away in a peaceful village, surrounded by wild woodlands and just a short drive (or a hilly walk) from breathtaking river beaches. While the village doesn’t have shops or cafes within walking distance, we’re out and about frequently during the week and happy to align our trips with anything you might need. It’s a wonderful place to disconnect, relax, and enjoy the beauty of nature.
