We live in a very rugged part of the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. There are four main indigenous groups within 20 miles of here.........Mazatec, Nahuatl, Mixtec & Chinatec.....................and for each there are quite a number of dialects. We have been growing mushrooms for over 15 years. At the moment we mainly grow and sell oyster mushrooms. In the past we cultivated many different mushroom species. Nonetheless, growing mushrooms is somewhat labor intensive, and requires strength within and without.

Our oyster mushrooms are quite famous in the region and when they are available sell like hot tamales......oftentimes being sold before we even get to town.

We also practice acupuncture and have a steady flow of patients from the surrounding area. Our medicinal mushroom teas featuring reishi, shitake etc. are very complimentary to our acupuncture therapies.

We eat fantastic organic food, some grown here, some from the local Indians. And although we occasionally consume meat, it is generally wild such as deer or tepescuintle, or wild boar, we also eat goat soup about once a month or so.

We especially are looking for people with mycological experience with live cultures.
At the moment we are also looking for people who have experience with small building

We DO NOT TAKE COUPLES, WHETHER THEY ARE LOVERS, BROTHERS OR JUST FRIENDS OR MARRIED.. At one time....there was a constant flow of interested novice mushroom growers. But many have grown, and gone off to do their own mushroom farms. We would be interested in prospective visitor/workers, who would be inerested in growing and learning all about mushrooms, even sacred ones. We are not seeking to break anyone's back, but want any visitor to carry their load at least and more if they are capable. We are generally laid back and take life day by day, but when we have to work, we do so with enthusiasm.

This is a place where you can learn English if you do not speak it, Spanish if you do not speak it, German if you do not speak it and Mazatec if you desire to learn an indigenous tongue. This is a place of teaching and learning. If you know a special thing in line with the Harmony of Mother Earth....we might want to learn from you as well.

Every visitor gets their own bed.....but not necessarily their own room....depending on how many visitors there are. We feature hot water, internet, telephone, home made tortillas from good corn,
and some of the best organic coffee, espresso, capuccino
(when we have milk) even sometimes with organic milk. There are several bathrooms and an outhouse as well.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

A great chance to live amongst indigenous peoples who have been here for thousands of years.....even if they are rapidly becoming "Westernized", with modern vehicles and the internet. Catch it while it still exists!! Here is the real deal. Mexico like no tourist will ever know.
