Our place is not simply a place for travelers to sleep. It’s more like a community house that attracts like-minded people. Whether you are a yogi, meditator, musician, artist or just a simple traveler exploring the world, you will find a home away from home here. Our place is where magical people like yourself come to recharge and connect. We are 100% not a party hostel, but there’s a super friendly, social vibe if you feel like ‘peopling’ - and a super chill, laid-back vibe when you feel like you need time alone.
The hostel is located right in the charming historic center of San Cristobal de las Casas, within a 5 minute walk from anything you could ever need. Local markets, restaurants, nature hikes, and main attractions.Types of help and learning opportunities

We offer free yoga classes 4 days a week, taught by talented teachers from around the world, with a variety of yoga styles including hatha, vinyasa, yin, and kundalini. These classes are free for hostel guests and volunteers like yourself. Professional quality Manduka yoga mats and blocks are provided.
The town of San Cristobal is full of spiritual events and activities like ecstatic dances, kirtans, cacao ceremonies, sound baths, and healing workshops.
If you are someone who does work online or takes online classes, our hostel is digital-nomad friendly. We have some of the fastest, most reliable internet in town, and quiet spaces to get work done.Help
Our volunteering program is based on a 6-day cycle. Every volunteer resident has three 5-hour shifts and one 2-hour shift (on average) every 6 days, which is considerably less than most volunteer programs. We take on more volunteers so each person has fewer hours volunteering at the hostel and have more time to spend on themselves and their own passion projects.
We request 1 month commitment to keep the rotating schedule working smoothly for all six volunteer spots. If you can't do 1 month, please feel free to let us know how long you can commit and we can try to fit you in depending on availability, with preference given to volunteers who can stay longer.
Providing a good social vibe and cleanliness of the hostel is very important. You will be helping at the reception desk, checking guests in and out, cleaning, helping to set up the yoga mats for classes, and general help around the hostel. We are looking for people who will approach the volunteer position from a place of service and love, much like a Karmic Yogi. Someone who will be friendly and fully present when interacting with guests and while helping keep the hostel clean and organized.
You will have several 'shadow shifts' with current volunteers before you start your own solo shifts, as well as detailed documentation for the volunteer tasks, to ensure you feel prepared for the position.Languages spoken

What else ...
San Cristobal de las Casas is known as a “pueblo mágico” (magic town). The town has a special magnetic vibe that seems to attract people from all over the world. This along with the magical vibe of the hostel lured the owner to settle here after years of traveling the world.

We have the fastest, and generally most reliable, internet in town. We upgraded the hostel's internet last year to the same one that the co-working cafes use. Our hostel is generally quiet during the day, making it easy for people who work online, have virtual meetings, etc. We have common areas with tables both indoors and outdoors.

San Cristobal is a nice city to live a few weeks, too. Wonderful waterfalls, canyon and lakes at 3-4h by bus.
So if you want to work in a nice place and in a nice city, come here !!

I spent a month doing the volunteering spiritual residency program here and I'm not sure if a month has ever gone by so fast.
Every morning I attended meditation at 7:30 and every day either a yoga class, meditation class or cacao ceremony. The program itself might look like a lot but it really doesn't feel like it since… read more
