Tristan is a kind, mellow guy who is hardworking and great with kids. He’s very competent in the kitchen, and not only made most dinners during his stay but also cleaned up and did the dishes afterwards (and the next morning!) He’s thorough and detail oriented, and jumped in and helped whenever he saw a need, not just when we asked him to. Tristan worked inside and outside - he vacuumed, folded sheets and towels, baked banana bread, prepared food for the kids lunches, cooked dinners, cleaned the kitchen multiple times a day, entertained the kids after school, and worked out in the garden. His experience as a teacher’s assistant was obvious, as he had endless patience for our daughters and joined them in playing pretend, building magnetiles, drawing and crafts, and running around in the backyard. My older daughter is still asking us when he’ll come back. We were all sad to see Tristan go and hope he visits again during his travels in NZ!

Richard and Leslie are the kind of volunteers every educational center hopes for. They came prepared to share their professional expertise and coached our students with patience and clarity. Their sessions were a highlight for our learners, who gained so much from their unique perspective and experience. Beyond the classroom, they were wonderful company and integrated seamlessly into our team. If you have the chance to host them, do not hesitate—they will bring value, professionalism, and warmth to your project. Our students loved learning and benefiting from their guidance. As guests, they were independent, respectful, and easy to get along with—true Kiwis with great stories and big hearts. We highly recommend them to any host looking for volunteers who make a real impact. We would welcome them back here anytime. Highly recommended to all Workaway hosts! Allison was the best that happened in our lives in 2025. She is An incredibly beautiful person to be around, but someone really special. She has a contagious energy, always smiling, always positive, always enthusiastic. She made every plan feel exciting both for the kids and us adults. She approached every task we presented as a challenge, never complaint nor failed 🤣 , always willing to help, super proactively and lovingly. With the kids, she was incredibly sweet and caring, while at the same time respectfully and consistently setting the boundaries we had asked for, something we deeply appreciated and which we find is usually hard to do for non-parents (so much easier to cave 🤣). Allison never felt like a guest, we adopted her as a member of our family and will always feel that way. Her impact was felt not only by us, but also by our friends, who immediately connected with her amazing personality. Seeing her leave was hard for all of us. We are already counting the days to welcome her back. We love her, we wish her all the best, and secretly (or not so much!) we hope that the very best for her is coming back to us!!

Where to begin. what an amazing opportunity to spend time with 2 of the most beautiful souls ever, jaffy and islay are really something special. super affectionate, I miss them already, Rihanna is such a wonderful person and now I can call a friend, from day 1 she made everything super clear, she is funny, smart and one of the kindest people I know, lovely location and I am looking forward to coming back to sunny southbourne...

Maja has been a truly wonderful person to host. She was genuinely invested in the daily life of the place, reliable in her work, and always attentive to what needed to be done. Her help was consistent, thoughtful, and carried out with care and autonomy. Beyond the practical side, Maja is a very pleasant person to live with on a daily basis. She brings a calm, respectful, and positive energy, integrates naturally into a shared living environment, and contributes to a harmonious group dynamic. Communication was always easy, honest, and fluid. She has a real sense of community life, adapts easily, and understands the rhythm of a place without needing constant guidance. Hosting her was a very smooth and enriching experience, both humanly and practically. I warmly recommend Maja to any host looking for someone trustworthy, engaged, and genuinely aligned with the values of co-living and mutual respect.

I just finished 10 days of workaway here and I have not enough words to express my gratitude that she accepted to welcome me in her paradise. Vic did everything to make me feel confortable and at home. She is the kindest, always in the good mood, easy to talk to. Her daily life is built around spirituality, but she is absolutely not pushing you to do the same. That said, I advise to apply mainly if you are interested in participating in the meditation and sound healing rituals, as Vic generously let you do so and that a chance to don't miss. The volonteers room is a shared one with ensuite bathroom. There is 2 Airbnb rooms to take care of, the daily cleaning routine of the house is nothing difficult. I was mainly taking care of the garden on my stay, as Vic wanted to redesign with new plants. She exactly knows what she wants, explains it well, it's a pleasure to work for her. Temple Gong is a really special place, where I felt in peace. The town of Pipa is really special too. The beaches are really not far, the cliffs, the colors. I mean you can swim with dolphins just walking from the beach! I hope you will as well have the occasion to meet Felipe, with Vic they form a gorgeous artistic team and he is the sweetest guy on earth too. Vic, again, thank you for everything, I will keep you, Temple Gong and Pipa in a special happy place in my heart and hopefully I will be back.

Fergus is grounded, self-reliant, and practical young man. He works independently, handles tools with confidence, and brings a positive, caring presence. We miss him already.

​Noame was an excellent pet sitter. She took wonderful care of our cats while we were away, and we truly appreciated her attention to their needs. She regularly sent us pictures, which was very comforting and let us know they were happy. We also felt she took very good care of our home. We would strongly recommend Noame as a responsible and reliable pet sitter.

She was a very lovely person who was with my family, and unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to meet her. I hope to meet her again. Welcome home again.

Dylan & Jillian are a very beautiful couple. The love between them was evident in their eyes. We spent a wonderful week in Ismailia – we ate many traditional and local dishes – and visited many places in Ismailia. I hope to meet them again, and I highly recommend them to anyone; it will be a great privilege to meet and spend time with them.

I had a problem with Luisa, to make her observe our house rules. She is good worker. She IS strong, and She does some tasks as a man, too. But She wanted to do everything to his owm way. She didn't listen to me neither follow me. She went out 1 weekend before the time table and It was a problem with organization of my own activities. She IS always smiling, and It IS very good.

Louison stay at our ranch was a great present for us! First of all she is such a great and nice company. And as a worker she was AMAZING! She kept the house clean, food always ready and our team happy. Also she did all the work with horses perfectly well. We would love to host her again and can strongly advise her as a good and reliable volunteer.

My time here was impactful. I opted to stay for 3 days to work the festival and ended up staying for 10. They were encouraging, the work was involved but not difficult, and I got to collaborate with many people on interesting projects. Would 100% return. Lots of options on what and how much work you want to do with great people.

Niamh and Sam are kind and generous, with a lovely home and property. They are happy to help you get settled in the community with rides, advice, and local recommendations. The work was fair, though at times I was unsure of expectations. I arrived during a challenging period, as the children were all very sick, which made childcare difficult and ultimately led to my early departure. While I agreed this was for the best, clearer expectations and communication throughout would have been helpful. Overall, my experience was challenging, though understandable given the circumstances. Future Workawayers who are comfortable with noise from four children and visit during warmer months could have a positive experience.

We stayed for about two weeks and mainly worked on garden maintenance. It was really satisfying to help bring the beautiful garden back to life after it had been overgrown with weeds. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and each morning the host briefly explained what we would be working on that day. We were able to use power tools when needed, which helped us work more efficiently. On days when we finished work early, we had plenty of free time afterward. We got to visit Mayan ruins and explore cenotes, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The host welcomed us very warmly, and we felt relaxed and comfortable throughout our stay. If you’re thinking about applying but still unsure, we definitely recommend going for it. It’s sure to be a fun and rewarding Workaway experience. Thank you, Jameelah!

I spent three weeks with David and Alex. They are amazing and very kind people. They shared their live, their culture (and their food), helped whenever they could, and were interested in what I could bring to them or tell them. Their projects are inspiring, and I was happy to be a part of them. The work was varied and interesting, and no two days were the same. I really liked being there, in the nature, meeting these wonderful people with such positive energy, and working with them. Thank you for everything!

Stephane was a pleasure to host A gentleman in the best meaning. Reliable and fit he mucked in and helped us with some very muddy work. He became very much part of the team but also was liked by other workawayers. He has a nice car and toured the other workawayers exploring the west coast on weekends. Thanks to Stephane the young ladies got to visit Port Renfrew, Port Alberni. Tofino and much more. What more could the girls ask for?. To be escorted by a chaperone and treated with respect.. Stephane came for two weeks and stayed with us for over two months. We are storing his car while he returns home for Christmas. We are happy he will return before he continues on his vacation exploring South America. Thank you so much Stephane . Russell

Marie-Jeanne is an exceptionally kind host and has a real love for dogs. She offered me her charming cottage, just 5 minutes from the sea, and placed her complete trust in me from the start, so it's up to you to respect that. With only 3 hours of work per day (excluding weekends), the pace is ideal for enjoying the region… except during the olive harvest (3 intense days, but compensated by days off afterward!). A huge thank you to Martin, who joins Marie-Jeanne every November for the olives. He's very friendly and makes for great conversations, we were a wonderful team. If you enjoy independence, Mediterranean landscapes, and meeting new people, this is the place to be!

Eva is a lovely girl- helpful and kind. We loved to have her in our home.

I stayed with Babs for about two weeks and it felt truly like a family. We picked olives, harvested fresh fruit and vegetables like kakis and pomegranates and pruned the olive trees. There were between 8-10 people, yet there was loads of time to do your own thing and there were some silent hours where you could just relax in the sun and read a book. The work is from 9 until 2, which you will afterwards be rewarded for with vegetarian delicacies like delicious warm home cooked tortillas, soups, freshly baked bread, chutney and not to forget olives from the finca. Every night we would sit together around the wood stove, share meals, laughter, and good stories with each other. Lola, the sweetest dog, will accompany you during your tasks and demand some playtime :p The shower is cold butttt you can heat up some water and have a little cat wash. The surrounding area and walking paths are beautiful. Barbara is such a creative, good looking and cooking, generous soul who truly enjoys being a host and she will make you smile for sure. You won’t regret helping her out at all. For those who are busy bees, there is always something more to do or a new project to start in the afternoon.
