Audrey und Tee sind ein sehr engagiertes Team. Sie haben mich an ihrem wunderbaren Ort sehr freundlich aufgenommen und mir wann immer Zeit war viele interessante Gespräche und Dinge rund um Kluang gezeigt. Ich kenne nun die Reisfelder westlich von Kluang, eine Töpferei, chinesischen Tempel, malaiische Spezialitäten- Restaurants, in die sie mich eingeladen haben, den Heimatort von Tee. Ich weiß sogar, wo seine Schule war... Ich bekam ein Fahrrad geliehen, mit dem ich allein die Umgebung der Stadt erkundete. Das Hostel ist ein super chilliger Platz und die Gäste, die ich kennenlernen durfte, blieben teilweise länger, als geplant, hier. Ich werde die 3 Wochen mit den 3 süßen Igelchen und meine schönen Erlebnissen in guter Erinnerung behalten.

I stayed at Dave’s farm for two weeks, and from the moment he picked me up at the bus stop, he treated me like a family member. Missing Dave, Nikki and of course Billy and TomTom already. Dave is incredibly warm-hearted, generous, and helpful. He was always happy to share his farming techniques as well as his deep knowledge of local history. Every morning we worked together, and he consistently took on the heaviest tasks himself, leaving me the lighter ones, while patiently teaching me along the way. Beyond the daily farm work, Dave also made my stay truly meaningful by involving me in a wide range of experiences. He took me on a tour of another well-known farm, invited me to attend a lecture on global warming given by a Princeton professor, and even arranged activities like kayaking in the river on his farm. He also showed me around museums, Castle Hill, Sunday Mountain, and brought me along to a church service with the local community. Overall, staying at Dave’s farm was not just a work exchange, but a deeply enriching life experience. Dave is an outstanding host, and I couldn’t recommend him more highly.

Both Rosita- the host and Mariam, her daughter, are wonderful and very welcoming. Mariam is a creative and talented kid and is happy sharing her love for the arts of dance and gymnastics and baking (: The apartment is in perfect location- calm yet still with lovely parks and cafes and one can easily access the metro/ bus and therefore the other areas of Paris. Taking Mariam to school/ picking her up was split fairly and I had plenty of free time . I highly recommend for anyone wanting a cozy experience with a lovely Italian family, the lovely neighbours and also eager to explore the city . Thank you very much !

I made a short overnight stop with Daniela and her family. I received a very warm welcome and immediately felt at home. I was invited to join them for pancakes for breakfast. I'm looking forward to spending a longer time with Daniela as a workawayer one day. I'm sure it will be fun, easygoing, and full of enriching conversations. Julia

Daniel ha sido el mejor anfitrión del mundo!!! Muy generoso, con una comunicación muy clara y una experiencia única. La jungla de alrededor de la casa es preciosa, y si que hay muchos mosquitos, pero hay cocos y fruta para coger directo del árbol siempre!! Me ayudó muchísimo con mi talla de madera, jugamos al ajedrez todos los días y tuvimos muchas conversaciones muy interesantes sobre la vida y el arte. Super inspirado por su amor por el arte, todo lo que sabe y el proyecto tan bonito y especial que está costruyendo. La comida era básica pero rica, con torta a veces para cenar😋😋 Espero que te vaya genial amigo y que nos veamos otra vez pronto

Lucas and Illy were truly exceptional volunteers, and having them was a gift. They are outstanding yoga teachers — professional, grounded, and deeply connected to their practice. Guests consistently came to me to say how much they loved their classes, how supported they felt, and how meaningful the yoga experience was for them. Beyond yoga, they were incredibly responsible, reliable, and easy to communicate with. Everything they did came from a place of care and presence. They also took wonderful care of Kaya, showing genuine love and attentiveness — something that meant a lot to me personally. Lucas and Illy are not only talented teachers, but also kind, respectful, and beautiful human beings. I feel very lucky to have had them as part of the hotel and to have gotten to know them both. They will be deeply missed, and I would recommend them without hesitation to any place or community. Thank you both for everything — you left a lasting mark here

Veselka has a project with a lot to do to fulfill the Vision. Speaking fluently in English. Accompanied by an intelligent Dog. Supported by a Cat Mafia. Professional and kind. An expert in bread baking. Marvelous cream soup specialist. And so much more. I wish I could have stayed longer and come back again to see how the project goes on.

Melvin was a very hard working, friendly and interesting young man. He helped with a wide range of tasks including heavy gardening work, cleaning and cooking. His cooking was delicious!! He integrated into our house hold very well. He was respectful, polite and appreciative. His English was better than he gave himself credit for, we wish Melvin all the best for his Australian adventure!!

I have to express my deepest thanks and gratitude to you both for making my summer so special. In August I spent two weeks with this amazing little family and it was my first Workaway experience. Clara and Felice were everything you could want in a host. They are kind, respectful, friendly, and responsive to needs. I truly felt like a part of the family while I was there. They have two wonderful kids, a 1 year old and a 3 year old who are very energetic and fun. Felice makes plenty of delicious home cooked meals so don’t worry about food haha. Clara will make sure you are comfortable and will set you up in a private room upstairs with a magical view of Tuscan hills!!! I’d highly recommend these hosts to anyone looking for an authentic Italian family experience and learning some valuable things about homesteading. I learned a little bit about construction, fermentation, wine production, and of course Italian language all in my short 2 week stay. And I can't forget about Tappo, the coolest gatto in Tuscany! He’s a very sweet cat who will be a great companion while you work. On a typical day I pulled weeds around the house for about 2 hours in the morning, spent the afternoon resting, then for a few hours in the late afternoon/evening I helped Felice with building the chicken coup fence. On the weekends there is plenty you can explore and they go to the beach often if you come in the summer! Clara and Felice were very generous with rides too. I’ll never forget this special part of the world and I can’t wait to come back someday!!! Grazie mille per tutti 🙃

Marion es una chica trabajadora y tranquila, hizo todas las tareas y disfrutó del lugar. Es bastante introvertida y no socializó mucho, pero entendemos que no todo el mundo es muy abierto. Además está aprendiendo el idioma y esto puede influir. ¡Le deseamos buen viaje y muchas gracias!

This part of Denmark is very reflective of the actual Danish culture, so if you are interested with the rural Denmark area is very positive in that regard. Antje and her family is accomodating & kind people with lovely cats. I think its a good opportunity for young people to learn and be sufficient while having a sense of family in proximity. I thank for their hospitality during my short stay.

Jemma stayed with us for 14 days and reliably took care of all the tasks. These included cleaning the cat house and the dog enclosures, feeding the animals, walking the dogs, and doing general cleaning work. She worked very independently and never needed things explained twice. Above all, Jemma was a real ray of sunshine, always in a good mood, positive, and full of energy. You could feel that positive attitude every day. Her way with the animals was calm, caring, and attentive. She was dependable and easy to rely on at all times. Working with her was completely uncomplicated and enjoyable. We really enjoyed having Jemma with us. She settled in quickly and was a great help. We would welcome her back anytime and can highly recommend her.

This was my third workaway in the Occitanie region, in Aude (near the village of Lanet), and I found the landscape different again from the previous two experiences (Gers and Aveyron). Regine was very welcoming and helpful and we had interesting conversations on her languages, and the local history. A good breakfast and her varied cuisine set me up well for the day. The landscape was mountainous, well forested and proper rustic (beautiful cattle with bells, etc.). I spent two weeks there in November-December and although it was a bit windy and damp in my first days, the weather improved and became very sunny (as if spring were coming!), and the ground remained mild and dry - with a possibility of it staying like that the whole winter i.e. great conditions for a winter workaway! The work was mostly easy in clearing tree cuttings, moving the wood (on a slope) and cutting it (using an electric chainsaw) and splitting for firewood. I got to know some of the trees there - the different oaks, etc. I had the experience of working with Robert who used hardly any English (the next lesson in French for me) and saw him transform a new storage area for tools in a matter of minutes! And there was always time for Regine to take me sightseeing, towards Montjoi and the Gorge de l'Orbieu, also Davejean, Salza and Bouisse, Arques and the Chateau. And we went to the market in Quillan. Regine is very sociable and well connected, in various communities here, as well as in her own Lanet (using her proficiency in French). There were good opportunities to meet people and practise the language. And at the end of the day there was time to relax in front of the fire and maybe watch a film or documentary (or play music!). It turned out to be a model workaway and I enjoyed my time there. Merci beaucoup Regine!

Basia war zwei Wochen bei uns und sie war unser allererster Workaway-Gast – und wir hätten es wirklich nicht besser treffen können. Vom ersten Moment an war sie eine sehr liebevolle, offene und positive Person, die man sofort ins Herz schließt. Der Kontakt zu unserer Tochter war einfach wunderbar. Basia hat jeden Tag mit ihr gespielt, eigene Spiele erfunden und genauso gern die Spiele gespielt, die unsere Tochter wollte. Mit viel Geduld und Einfühlungsvermögen ist sie damit umgegangen, dass unsere Tochter kaum Spanisch sprach. Nach nur zwei Wochen konnten die beiden gut miteinander kommunizieren, und unsere Tochter hat sichtbar viel gelernt. Basia war in dieser kurzen Zeit ein echter Teil unserer Familie. Wir haben gemeinsam gekocht, gebacken, viel unternommen und abends schöne, lange Gespräche geführt. Sie ist sehr selbstständig, verantwortungsvoll und zuverlässig und konnte auch problemlos alleine mit unserer Tochter zu Hause bleiben. Wir sind sehr dankbar für diese erste Erfahrung und können Basia von Herzen weiterempfehlen. Wir sind uns sicher: Das war nicht unser letztes Treffen – wir werden uns auf jeden Fall wiedersehen.

Tristan is a kind, mellow guy who is hardworking and great with kids. He’s very competent in the kitchen, and not only made most dinners during his stay but also cleaned up and did the dishes afterwards (and the next morning!) He’s thorough and detail oriented, and jumped in and helped whenever he saw a need, not just when we asked him to. Tristan worked inside and outside - he vacuumed, folded sheets and towels, baked banana bread, prepared food for the kids lunches, cooked dinners, cleaned the kitchen multiple times a day, entertained the kids after school, and worked out in the garden. His experience as a teacher’s assistant was obvious, as he had endless patience for our daughters and joined them in playing pretend, building magnetiles, drawing and crafts, and running around in the backyard. My older daughter is still asking us when he’ll come back. We were all sad to see Tristan go and hope he visits again during his travels in NZ!

Richard and Leslie are the kind of volunteers every educational center hopes for. They came prepared to share their professional expertise and coached our students with patience and clarity. Their sessions were a highlight for our learners, who gained so much from their unique perspective and experience. Beyond the classroom, they were wonderful company and integrated seamlessly into our team. If you have the chance to host them, do not hesitate—they will bring value, professionalism, and warmth to your project. Our students loved learning and benefiting from their guidance. As guests, they were independent, respectful, and easy to get along with—true Kiwis with great stories and big hearts. We highly recommend them to any host looking for volunteers who make a real impact. We would welcome them back here anytime. Highly recommended to all Workaway hosts! Allison was the best that happened in our lives in 2025. She is An incredibly beautiful person to be around, but someone really special. She has a contagious energy, always smiling, always positive, always enthusiastic. She made every plan feel exciting both for the kids and us adults. She approached every task we presented as a challenge, never complaint nor failed 🤣 , always willing to help, super proactively and lovingly. With the kids, she was incredibly sweet and caring, while at the same time respectfully and consistently setting the boundaries we had asked for, something we deeply appreciated and which we find is usually hard to do for non-parents (so much easier to cave 🤣). Allison never felt like a guest, we adopted her as a member of our family and will always feel that way. Her impact was felt not only by us, but also by our friends, who immediately connected with her amazing personality. Seeing her leave was hard for all of us. We are already counting the days to welcome her back. We love her, we wish her all the best, and secretly (or not so much!) we hope that the very best for her is coming back to us!!

Where to begin. what an amazing opportunity to spend time with 2 of the most beautiful souls ever, jaffy and islay are really something special. super affectionate, I miss them already, Rihanna is such a wonderful person and now I can call a friend, from day 1 she made everything super clear, she is funny, smart and one of the kindest people I know, lovely location and I am looking forward to coming back to sunny southbourne...

Maja has been a truly wonderful person to host. She was genuinely invested in the daily life of the place, reliable in her work, and always attentive to what needed to be done. Her help was consistent, thoughtful, and carried out with care and autonomy. Beyond the practical side, Maja is a very pleasant person to live with on a daily basis. She brings a calm, respectful, and positive energy, integrates naturally into a shared living environment, and contributes to a harmonious group dynamic. Communication was always easy, honest, and fluid. She has a real sense of community life, adapts easily, and understands the rhythm of a place without needing constant guidance. Hosting her was a very smooth and enriching experience, both humanly and practically. I warmly recommend Maja to any host looking for someone trustworthy, engaged, and genuinely aligned with the values of co-living and mutual respect.
