Descripción
👋 Hi! I’m Solana (American–Argentine), and I live with my husband (Argentine–Spanish bagpiper), our 4-year-old twins, and our lively animal crew in a spacious home in the heart of Palermo, Buenos Aires’ most vibrant neighborhood.
We share our home with a dog, two cats, and six tortoises who absolutely rule the garden. There’s also a swimming pool you can enjoy year-round (yes, even in winter!). I work from home, and when he’s in town, my husband does too. My mother-in-law lives three blocks away. She is bedbound, and we also appreciate help supporting her (Spanish required for this role). We’ve hosted many travelers over the years and truly enjoy the cultural exchange. You can choose how involved you want to be: join us for meals and family life, or just enjoy your space and independence (and even a separate house entrance if you want to avoid the kids -or us- when you aren't in the mood). We know travelers often have busy schedules, tango dancers, tourists, digital nomads... so we’re flexible.
✨ Who We’re Looking For
We’re open to different skill sets, including:
• Handy / construction skills – painting, drywall, woodwork, repairs (we’ll be painting soon!)
• Caregiving – nurse or someone experienced and comfortable assisting a bedbound elderly person (Spanish required)
• Photography – professional-style photos of the kids (ideally someone also open to helping with other tasks)
• Tech-savvy helper – setting up Arlo cameras, Alexa devices, smart home systems
• Early childhood education – kindergarten, sports, music, art, or playful learning activities
We value someone who:
• Speaks fluent English, preferably Native speakers (English-only around the kids so they’re fully immersed).
• Is comfortable around young children. Ours are sweet, fun, and well-mannered… but they’re also four years old — which means loud, energetic, and occasionally chaotic.
🏡 What Help Looks Like
Some days you may:
* Help tidy the playroom (the kids have a lot of toys… and I have strong feelings about missing marker caps, box lids, and Lego pieces!)
* Run errands (pick up packages, return items, paperwork or mail run)
* Post items for sale on MercadoLibre (our local version of eBay)
* If applicable: Play with the twins (swimming, biking, crafts, park outings)
* If applicable: Pick them up from school or help with simple activities
* If applicable: help with house projects or painting
⏰ Types of exchange we usually offer:
Full exchange: 25 hours per week (definitely a few on weekends), in exchange for housing, some meals, and the warmth of joining our family. We welcome Workawayers as part of our “pack.” We’re all very friendly—except for the tortoises, but they're slow so you’ll have time to escape 😉.
Partial exchange: 15 hours per week (some on weekends), in exchange for housing only (no meals, airport rides, etc.).
📩 When contacting us, please include:
* Where you’re from and what languages you speak (including what's your first language)
* What dates you’d like to stay with us and for how long
* If you have any specific skills you want to share
* Your previous stop and next destination
* Preferred exchange type (full, parcial, or other proposal...)
A Few Notes before you apply
• Please include all requested information when applying.
• While we’re open to different lengths of stay, we prefer not to host very short visits too frequently, as constant transitions can be overwhelming for the kids.
• When hosting two Workawayers at the same time, we only offer partial exchange (especially no meals) as it can bee too much for us.

I’m a language teacher, so I can help you with Spanish. My husband is a musician and would be happy to share his passion with you as much as you’d like. We have a piano and lots of other instruments at home. We also have plenty of books (I used to be an avid reader… before the kids!) and we’re very social, so our house often becomes the meeting place for friends to enjoy asados (typical barbecues) and mate (our traditional morning and afternoon tea).
I love biking and have a bike you can borrow—our neighborhood has plenty of bike lanes and great parks nearby. My husband is also a fantastic cook and happy to share his recipes and secrets! I’m terrible in the kitchen 😅 but I used to work as a TV producer, so I’m great at finding creative, practical solutions to all sorts of situations.
And then there are our kids: they’ll laugh with you, give you hugs, tell you stories, and show you their toys… not sure how much they’ll lend them though—they’re still learning to share 😂

We’d love our kids to be more exposed to English, so we’re looking for someone who can play with them a few hours a day (or spend longer stretches of time with them on weekends) while also enjoying family life with us.
We also appreciate someone who considers themselves handy and enjoys DIY projects, since our house is quite big and there’s always something to improve—of course, you don’t need to know how to do everything!
Most importantly, we want you to enjoy your time in Buenos Aires, and we’ll do everything we can to help make that happen.

Alojamiento
Our house is spacious, so you’ll be as independent as you like. You’ll have all the comforts of a typical city home—hot water, WiFi, a clean space, sheets, towels, etc.—plus some extras: a year-round heated indoor pool, a bike, a garden, and our pets to keep you company.
We do have a few house rules.
You’re free to come and go whenever you like (no curfew!), but since we have a security system, you’ll probably need to set it when you come home after our bedtime.
Algo más...
We’re easygoing, open-minded, and love connecting with people from all over the world! Having traveled extensively ourselves, we know how transformative these experiences can be. That’s why we’re excited to host fellow adventurers who share our flexible, go-with-the-flow attitude.
Come with an open heart, a willingness to help, and a sense of adventure—we’ll make sure your Workaway experience is as rewarding as possible!

Acceso a Internet

Acceso a Internet limitado

Somos fumadores

Puede alojar familias

Puede acoger a nómadas digitales
Our internet connection is the best available, but it is still pretty bad in my American opinion. Argentina has a lot of work to do in that sense!! That being said, both my husband and I work online and we rarely have an internet related issue that prevents us from working well.

Podría aceptar mascotas
As long as your pet can coexist with ours and our kids, they are welcome to come!

Gatito and Borgoña (3 años)
Gatito and Borgoña are very different. Gatito (stray) is warm and friendly, would cuddle with you any chance he gets, and wonders around the neighborhood all the time. Borgoña, on the other hand, the Siamese cat, is afraid of everything, will not let you go too close to her or will do it very carefully and rarely leaves the upper floor. Both are super soft and beautiful.
Lalo (7 años)
Lalo is a big dog, a mix. Maybe the size of a labrador but slimmer and maybe slightly higher. Playful as a labrador. He does not break or chew on anything he shouldn't, but he will eat anything he finds (edible). He is very well potty trained, and he only barks when something is going on outside our door.
