No NZ work visa required to volunteer & help us, as we are raising funds for charity to help poor folks this is not a paid job position, just Workaway at it's best.
So just come and enjoy a wonderful stay.
We are....Uncle Dave & Aunty Nikki.
We are retired, but we live on a Geraldine Sheep, Beef & Deer Farm. Just 2 hours South of Christchurch or Aoraki/Mount Cook, 1 hour from Tekapo /Timaru /Ashburton, 20 minutes from the seaside, Lake Opuha and the mountains.
We are planting native trees, fencing off all our rivers and streams and planting river banks and forests, doing environmental improvements.
Such as :
Planting native trees
and installing river crossings.
Tree clearing,
firewood cutting and bagging,
weed control,
Around the house - Cleaning windows, vacuuming, mowing lawns, gardening, washing cars, repairing & painting fences.
But we also love to get off the farm. Enjoy the native bush, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and mountains, to show you the best places in our beautiful country while you are here. So we find it works best for you if we do a few full days here , then we take a day or two off adventuring, touring, sightseeing, bush walks, cycling trails, mountain treks.
Our rivers, waterfalls & lakes are good swimming in Late Dec - Mar.

We'll provide all your meals, fruit, drinks etc. (free of charge) and promise we will look after you really well.
We can tell you great advice on the best (FREE) things to see and do in New Zealand and the best places you go.

Guillermo helped us on our Sheep, Beef & Deer farm for over a week. We fixed fences, cut and bagged/binned firewood, Cleared fallen Oaks and Willows and Sprayed weeds.
Guillermo was diligent, helpful and worked solidly at the tasks at hand.

Linda adjusted to life on the farm very quickly. She willingly and actively helped with eliminating ragwort, grazing & looking after Jersey cows, gathering & bagging logs of firewood, ironing laundering clothes, dishes and preparing meals.

We weeded ragwort, tonnes of it, gathered and loaded logs of firewood, tracked water leaks and grazed & minded Jersey cows.

Vivi helped us for about two weeks, we minded Jersey cows cleaning up the roadsides, cooked, vacuumed, carted firewood, fixed water problems and repaired tracks.

Coralyn came to us at Christmas after very badly twisting her ankle but she didn't let that slow her down.
We did some farm work, firewood, moved fences. Then Coralyn cleaned all the windows inside and out, vacuumed carpets & chairs, cleaned the bathrooms.
Only wished she could have stayed longer she was brilliant.

Mari, I think found it difficult adjusting to rural life, physically demanding work and didn't seem at all interested in exploring the area or going anywhere.
Although Mari's English comprehension is lacking, it was her lack of any attempt to clarify instructions or ask questions that let us all down.

We enjoyed having Akane stay for a short while with us.
Akane seemed to have a good grasp of English, was very willingly to help in many tasks. We grabbed weeds, cut and collected a tonne of firewood. She also helped with dishes, clearing and setting the table for meals.

We nailed up some gib board and measured replacement boards for the deck, then sourced and cut the planks.

I stayed at Anne's & Harrie's House for about one week. Dave organised the Stay with the couple and it was a really warm-hearted stay. I got some afternoons off and Dave picked me up for some aktivites with other workawayers. Dave is always in his element and tries to show you as much as he can. You would never meet him unmotivated. We only stayed a few days with Dave and Nikki because we were headed south and had a lot on our bucket list before our traveltime ends. But we've had some amazing activities during our stay and been welcomed into the family warmly! Thanks Dave and Nikki!

Corvin and I stayed 10 days with Nikki and Dave and enjoyed every day. We got plenty of food and nice juices from a local company.

Ana helped us on the farm with cattle, deer, gorse spraying, firewood
Also cleaning windows, vacuuming, car cleaning and painting.

Ulrike worked really hard, feeding cows and calves, driving Quad & tractor and mowing lawns. She really helped us clean up the place for which we are very grateful.
Highly recommend Ulrike and she's welcome to return anytime she wants, maybe this time to relax and chill out more.

Dave and Nikki were most hospitable. Their farm is beautiful and quiet with rolling meadows. It is truly an adventurous farmstay with kayaking, rafting, splitting firewood and general farmwork! The work is pretty interesting and a unique experience. Thank you for having me!!
