Description
My name is Tanda ("Tawn-da"), and I am from the United States. I grew up in Southern California, and as an adult, moved several times across the States. My family now lives in Washington state.
I did 2 Workaways in 2019 (Ireland and Italy) and had a great experience. I'm keen to travel and learn about new cultures and ways of life! I am a former zookeeper, and love animals and being outside. I have a fairly active life-style, love working hard, and learning languages (Native English speaker, have studied Spanish, French, some Italian and Japanese in college, and would love to learn more, and become more fluent! I would love to learn your native language!!). I am also a TEFL certified English Teacher, and I teach and tutor students online.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing card and board games, hiking and enjoying nature and being outside. I love the Harry Potter books! Hippos are one of my favorite animals. Non-smoker.

More details about your skills
I worked as a zookeeper in the United States for 10-15 years, which involves working with animals and manual labor in all kinds of weather, in and out of doors. I can use a computer, internet and basic word processing. I have cut my best friend's, and my own hair. I helped refurbish a house, including removing old carpet, and re-painting. Helped build a small house in Italy! Helped my grandfather build a wooden bench (complete with drawers!). Before I studied biology at university, I studied Spanish. I began learning French, Italian and Japanese as well, but am not as proficient. I am able to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles, and have used a tractor, and other small off-road vehicles. I worked at a summer camp for kids (ages 3-10 in my various groups) at the zoo in my hometown, teaching them about animals and the environment. I am also a TEFL certified English teacher specializing in tutoring and teaching English online.
