Description
My name's Tamblyn and I'm from Brighton, UK. This summer I graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in anthropology and love exploring, meeting new people and seeing new things.
I write a lot and enjoy cooking, reading, swimming and yoga, and I’ve recently been getting into foraging, which has been a lot of fun. Caring for the environment is very important to me, and I am always open to learning different ways to do so. I am interested in impactful conservation and developing sustainable practices and would love to learn more about how to practically contribute in a positive way.

More details about your skills
My dad is very good at DIY and so I have a lot of experience helping my him out in the garden with small tasks like painting and clearing things out. I grew up with dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs, and I rode horses as a teenager, so I have good base knowledge of animal care. I've also helped out at my aunt’s sheep farm - feeding the animals and bottle feeding orphaned lambs.
workaway experience:
- In 2024, I spent two weeks volunteering on an organic croft in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland (via WWOOF), and learnt how to plant out and harvest vegetables, strip and reconstruct palettes to build compost bays, and helped in caring for a pair of Shetland ponies.
- In May I spent three weeks at a permaculture farm in Wales, learning how to scythe and care for a garden with permaculture principles.
- This summer my boyfriend and I spent three weeks volunteering on an organic farm in Norway! We helped by caring for the chickens, scything, setting up electric fences, clearing paths in the forest, cooking shared meals, as well as planting and weeding :)
- In September/October we also spent three weeks volunteering on a permaculture farm in Greece, helping to open up winter vegetable beds, planting, preparing clay for the roof of a stone hut, and harvesting beans, sesame and walnuts.
- In October/November, we volunteered on an organic farm in Türkiye, helping with weeding, planting, caring for horses, and walking dogs!
other experience:
- While I was in uni, I was part of an anti-homelessness charity and where we did street patrols at night, providing people sleeping on the streets with food, conversation and hot water bottles.
- I have four years experience working in various bars and restaurants and enjoy meeting people from all over the world through a love for food :)
