  • Description

My name's Tamblyn and I'm from Brighton, UK! I'm soon to be graduating from Edinburgh University with a degree in social anthropology and love exploring and seeing new things. I love being by the sea and up in the hills, and everything in between :) I write and like to cook and go cycling. I’ve recently been getting into foraging and it’s been a really fun way of engaging with the environment around me. Caring for the environment is very important to me and human relationships to the land and sea are my particular interests in anthropology. I am interested in impactful conservation and developing sustainable practices and would love to learn more about how to practically contribute in a positive way.

  • More details about your skills

    - I have a lot of experience helping my dad out in the garden, painting sheds, as well as caring for animals. I grew up with dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs, and I rode horses as a teenager, so I have good base knowledge of animal care. I've also helped out at my auntie's sheep farm - feeding the animals and bottle feeding orphaned lambs.

    - In 2024, I spent two weeks volunteering on an organic croft in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland (via WWOOF), and learnt how to plant out and harvest vegetables, strip and reconstruct palettes to build compost bays, and helped in caring for a pair of Shetland ponies.
    - this may I have spent three weeks at a permaculture farm in wales, learning how to scythe and care for a garden with permaculture principles!
    - I have volunteered as part of an anti-homelessness charity and have done street patrols and provided people sleeping rough with food and hot water bottles.

    - I have four years experience working in various bars and restaurants and enjoy meeting people from all over the world through a love for food :)
    - I worked in Brighton Fringe festival in May of 2023 and was involved in putting up and taking down seats for live performances, managing crowds and maintaining the site.

    - This May I will be working at the Hay Festival in Hay-on-Wye, Wales, as a journalism intern! I have skills in writing and communications so can help out with social media if that interests anybody too :)
