*️*️*️Dear workawayers! A quick end of season note. We are closed starting December 1st for hibernation. We will happily restart our works in April 2020*️*️*️
Hello! my name is Philippe. I own and manage a guesthouse and organic farm, nestled in Akoura, a beautiful village at 1400m high in Mount Lebanon. This is an environmental friendly organic farm that aims at following (ongoing process) permaculture practices. It is dedicated to agriculture, agritourism, ecotourism, wellness and learning.
My mother co-manages the project with me. She cooks delicious homemade typical Lebanese dishes and is a super host. You would love her. We grow various fruits, vegetables, and herbs. We have a small chicken farm and soon some other animals. We produce various derivatives products from what we grow in the farm (arak which is the typical Lebanese spirit, other spirits, jams, molasses, dried fruits, and vegetables etc...).
We host guests. We seek to preserve the environment, the cultural heritage and the food heritage of Akoura. To initiate and immerse guests in rural life and connect them with nature. To show guests how we can live in harmony and sustainably with our surrounding environment.
Guests can come to the guesthouse just to disconnect, to sleep in the mountains, resource, have healthy and delicious food but also can take part in different activities and events that we organize.
On the agritouristic front, we propose fruit and vegetable picking activities and cooking classes.
On the ecotouristic front, we propose several hiking trails, caving in the 2nd largest cave in Lebanon called Rweiss. Guests can also do rock climbing and be rappelling on the beautiful cliffs in the surrounding mountains.
On the wellness front, we regularly organize yoga retreats.
Finally, we aim at being a learning center in the field of agriculture, food, and the environment. We would like to teach guests about organic agriculture, permaculture, Lebanese traditional food, how to live and eat simply and sustainably in an environmentally friendly way.

My mother and I speak three languages (English, French and Arabic), are well educated, lived abroad for a while, have travelled extensively... Volunteers would enjoy a conversation with us about Lebanon, Akoura, Lebanese food and traditions, agriculture, arts, to name a few....
Volunteers would be welcome in helping us building stuff (in the house or the farm), teaching (yoga, agriculture, farming, permaculture, food, aromatherapy, cooking, music, painting, dancing, pottery, photography...), playing music, cooking, farming, massaging (for the guests mainly), management stuff (social media, website, emails, reservations etc...)
