Description
Hi, we are Niki&Barna, a couple from Hungary currently in Australia on a Work&Holiday visa. We are happy to stay and help out hosts on a longer term (at least 1 month), if they are open to it.
We have travelled together in the past 7.5 years ranging from short city escapes to longer term stays as digital nomads. We enjoy travelling to new places to get to know the culture, speak to locals and explore the natural beauty of a country. We like to post about our recent travels on our Instagram page, so if you want to see more of us take a look at our profile. (@bn.journeys or https://www.instagram.com/bn.journeys/)
We enjoy being in the nature, go on hikes or just have a picnic somewhere outdoors.
A little more about us individually. :)
Niki:
I have my degrees from the field of business&marketing, but after a few years as a project manager I realised that I want something different, something where I can nurture my health, body and mind and can connect to nature. In 2025 I gave up my office job and started searching for a new path (actually I am still searching :D), and as a step I've completed a yoga teacher training this spring (2026). I learned about ayurvedic health practices, some yoga philosophy and breath techniques. With Workaway I'd like to open myself to opportunities, learn new skills and maybe find my future passion during the process.
Barna:
My passion is teaching and helping others. With a business&finance background I love helping clients make decisions about their finances and educate them how to be more conscious. I have always enjoyed interacting with people, which comes in handy when travelling and exloring new places. I have friendships from several parts of the world, which I made during my travels and studies. I completed a half year long Erasmus semester in Brussels, Belgium, which gave me good memories for life. With Workaway I want to build new connections, help hosts in their projects, and I would be happy to teach about some of my hobbies (see below the What else... part). -

More details about your skills
We are both easy learners, who adapt to a new environment quickly. We work hard in our commitments. We have been part of different teams gaining experience in teamwork and other soft skills like communication, feedback, problem solving.
Niki:
I was raised on the countryside of Hungary where my father has a garden, he grows fruit&vegetables for the family from early spring to autumn. I was helping him a lot so I am familiar with a few basics of gardening. I have done: cutting grass, clearing weeds, planting flowers and seeds, watering the garden, picking and processing fruit. Apart from that I have a passion for cooking&baking, I was taught by my mother and grandmother, so I would be happy to help cooking meals and also show you some tastes of Hungary. I was around my mother a lot, so you can count on me for cleaning and other household duties. For a short time I also had a student work in the local kindergarden of my village, where I was looking after the children as well as doing a big summer cleanup.
Barna:
I am an outgoing person who connects with people really easily. If you want a good talk, you can always count on me. I consider myself fun and easy-going, and I am good with children and animals. I have looked after my younger brother several times when we were children. During my high school years I was a mentor for 5 years helping children with learning difficulties. Later I worked in the US as a camp counselor in a childrens' camp. Also, I was a football referee for almost 10 years, so I am phisically fit, durable and resilient when coming to hands-on work. In my early years my family and I were living in a house with a garden, where I helped my father outdoors a lot (eg. chopping wood, planting some seeds). -

What else ...
Both of us have experience in living together with others - Niki lived in shared flats for years during her unversity studies and Barna lived together with 5 other people in Brussels. When we lived in Malta for 2 months, we shared a flat with 4-6 people including our host. We've spent 2 months in Cairns, where we lived together with our AirBnB host. He worked FIFO, so when he was not around we were also looking after his bird, Billy.
- We both dance West Coast Swing, a smooth partner dance that can fit modern pop, R&B, blues or basically any kind of music. We can teach you the basics if you're interested. :)
- In our spare time we love playing board games and cards with our family and friends.
- We participated in voluntary 1-2 week long Erasmus+ projects in Europe (Barna in Greece and Italy, then both of us in Spain).
Barna can give you some tips regarding financial consciousness. He also plays chess and Hive (chess-like game) and open to teaching you. He has a basic level freediving certificate.
Niki is open to host a basic level yoga class, which would be a good practice for her as a beginner teacher. -
