Description
Hi, I'm with workway since autumn 2022 but have a lot of travel experience. I would like to get in touch with people in countries where I travel. I like to work and in my experience this is the best way to meet new people.
I like being outdoors and explore.
I'm Swiss, have travelled thru Australia back in 2006 for about 7 month where I've met an Irish girl where we've then travelled 3 month New Zealand (stayed with a local family for to weeks over christmas). In 2012 I've travelled again around Australia for a year where I've stayed with my new Australian friends for a couple of weeks to prepare and having a home base.
Short trips in Europe of course in different countries (really like Scotland). Last trip in 2018 thru Hungary and Romania. Also some short trips to the US, West and East Coast as well as Canada, Vancouver - Calgary. I also visited Namibia/Botswana back in 2008.
In Sept. - Oct. 2022 I went on a Norway trip where I've stayed at a farm (via workaway) for 12 days, where we've produced a lot of firewood (cut trees, drove tractor to bring them home to the farm, cut and split and load onto pallets. Went fishing on a boat, fixed some things and tidied up the barn and workshop. In addition I stayed a couple of days with another family, west of Oslo.
I have come to experience the workaway way of travel brings me the joy of getting in touch with people locally, see different lives and get inspiration. This can not be achieved if you travel like a tourist. I can't sit on an island with mass tourism. .... :-)

I'm a generalist with lots of different skills, learning new things fast.
I don't like to work on high roofs so :-)
I'm a certified electrician originally. Cars are my hobby, had a tractor and learned how to use a chainsaw. So I've no difficulties to make firewood out of big log trees.
Not sure, what skills you're expecting, a dream of me would be to build a log cabin somewhere in the woods :-) I don't really like painting, prefer to do something else but there are no boundaries, except the work in the height above 15m.
Have recently upgraded my camper van with newest solar technology. I like to fix all kind of things. Being a technician.
My career went to telecommunication, being a specialist on data transmission networks, where I've later moved on being an international project manager. Returning of my 2012 Australia trip, I went into business process engineering and moved on as a process manager being the deputy of the team lead within a connectivity solution engineering team in 2019. In 2023 I took over the responsibility of this team (16 employees), as the team lead. But to be honest, I prefer to work with my hands and a screwdriver and a hammer or whatever kind of power tools.
No computers..... as in my job I'm on the computer all the times.
