  • Description

I'm Phoebe, a recent college graduate passionate about history, books and the arts, eager to make transnational connections and learn life skills abroad before I jump into full-time employment. I studied multimedia journalism in school, and I get a lot of hearing and helping other people tell their stories. While I've studied, lived and interned in Western Europe, I've always wanted to spend time in the Balkans because I have Croatian Serb heritage. I've wanted to do a Workaday since high school, and I'm finally at a place in my life where I can make it happen.

  • More details about your skills

One cause I care a lot about is education — I grew up with teacher parents, and I was an after-school tutor throughout college. I can offer instruction in some fundamental language arts, social studies, filmmaking, dance, and personal fitness skills, plus English/Spanish/Italian grammar training for youngsters. If you're just looking for a willing and always-willing conversationalist, I can provide that too, and if you have any creative projects you'd like assistance with, that's definitely my forte!

I also thrive in "group project" type environments — my dream is to be in a TV writers' room — and being a waitress in a fast-paced dining environment taught me a lot about how to stay cool and cordial in stressful situations. I've got some work experience abroad (fun fact: I met Pope Francis through an internship at the Vatican News), and I'd say I'm pretty adept at picking up on cultural differences and am always go above and beyond to learn about the new setting I'm in. Finally, though I'm no expert gardener or carpenter, I keep my body fit through yoga, pilates and strength training, so I can do physical labor as needed.

  • What else ...

A few other things I love include improv comedy, boxing, documentaries, playing the ukulele, road trips and thrift stores. I'm a big music lover and my tastes run the spectrum from soft rock to European techno, but I'm always eager to discover more artists from across the globe!
