Description
We live in Wellington the beautiful capital of New Zealand. We have two adult children who are now living their own lives in other parts of the country so now it is time to achieve a life long dream and travel throughout Latin America. We have traveled within New Zealand and around the world. We are an older couple at the start of a year-long adventure in Latin America. Paul is a secondary geography teacher. Kim is a risk advisor with a science background. We are both interested in wildlife and landscapes, love nature and the outdoors. We are learning Spanish and looking to exchange language and culture with like minded hosts. We are experienced house and pet sitters, have a wide range of practical skills and want to make a positive contribution to the places we visit. We are comfortable doing indoor and outdoor work; painting, home maintenance, gardening, landscaping, cleaning, care of animals. We are looking forward to a fun and meaningful exchange.

We are very interested in learning and improving our Spanish so we can fully participate in the culture and communal life of the places we visit in Latin America. As native English speakers we are very happy to help hosts practice and improve their English. -

Paul is a geography teacher and Kim has a background in natural hazards risks and understanding and managing business risks. We are both comfortable communicating about, and working in diverse landscapes. Paul's has organized and led many multi-day field trips for senior school students organizing health and safety, schedules and transport. We are both experienced volunteers; Paul in conservation and sustainability work and Kim in a wildlife sanctuary and in an operations center for civil defence emergencies.
We are confident doing practical tasks. In our home life we have prepared and painted the inside and outside of our house, do all our own gardening and landscaping and also do much of the home maintenance repairs, Over the years we have had our own pets and frequently done house-sitting for friends and family, caring for dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, and rabbits. We can both cook a wide range of meals and Kim can cook sweet treats but we are family cooks, not chefs. -

We both enjoy activities in nature such as hiking, camping and birdwatching. We are very interested in seeing the animals and birds throughout Latin America. Paul practices martial arts, and plays the guitar. Kim enjoys playing board games, especially cooperative games. We enjoy watching movies,and listening to alternative music.
