Hello! I have recently signed up to workaway, but have previous experience with residential and non-residential volunteer experiences around the world, including Sierra Leone, Peru, India, the UK and the Netherlands.
I am a curious, kind and practical person who loves exploring new things about the world around me. I am deeply fascinated with the natural world and humans connection and reliance on it, and love to explore this topic further. In the last year I have been doing more small-scale farming volunteering in and around Amsterdam and am looking forward to future projects in my own garden! For a few years I have been involved in food-waste volunteering projects, and nothing gives me greater joy than preventing waste or educating others on this topic.
I'm currently on a bit of a career break whilst I figure out my next move, and am looking to have more varied experiences, with hands-on, practical work, and less time behind a screen!

Highly practical and creative - with an educational and professional background in Design Engineering and Sustainability, I can bring this mindset to lots of related projects. Last year I partially built a 'studio' (glorified shed for now) in my garden and am looking forward to completing the work. Additionally I have lots of experience with power tools, both fixing and making, and learn quickly.
Creative and competent cook - I have previous experience cooking for 100+ from food waste, love to create new recipes and learn from other cultures via food.
Organised and efficient - I love to make a list and problem solve to get to a solution!
Native English speaker, happy to do a language exchange. I am currently learning Dutch and need all the help I can with it!

I live in Amsterdam but I currently need to be out of the flat for a few months whilst I have builders in; I thought this is the perfect time to explore something new in the city, whilst still staying close by. I have been in the city for 5 1/2 years but still feel there is so much to explore and to do; looking forward to making new connections with interesting people!
Additionally, I love to read, draw and enjoy the occasional board game (especially backgammon and the Royal Game of Ur - a new one for me). Always looking out for more people to play with!
